PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 GENERAL A. Swimming pool and water features shall have a reinforced concrete structure with a ceramic tile finish for walls and floors. Concrete structures shall be in accordance with the applicable Sections of Division 3- CONCRETE. Sizes and Shapes: As indicated on Drawings. Ceramic Tile Finish for Walls and Floors: As indicated on Drawings and in accordance with the requirements specified in Section 09310 - CERAMIC TILES.

SWIMMING POOL EQUIPMENT A. General: 1. 2. 3. B. Swimming pool equipment such as filtration fittings and deck accessories shall be supplied by one manufacturer to the greatest possible extent. Filter and pump shall bear NSF and UL approval labels. Pump and filter capacities as well as the related piping sizes shall be as indicated on the Drawings.

Filter: High-rate-pressure, sand filter with a stainless steel low profile unit. Filter shall have a vertical grid design and backwash principle, pre-plumbed and complete with face piping, self-priming centrifugal pump, self-adjusting butterfly valve, automatic air release valve, backwash sight glass, rate of flow indicator, strainer, as well as the necessary controls. Filtering capacity shall be as shown on the Drawings. Circulating Pump: A self-priming single suction centrifugal pump, made of corrosion-resistant bronze for use with sand filter, completely self-priming, with a semi-open impeller and a mechanical shaft seal that shall assure minimal friction and wear. Pump and motor capacities shall be as shown on Drawings. Provide one duty and one stand-by pumps. Strainers: Hair and lint strainers shall be corrosion resistant bronze with quick release lid sealed with O-rings, drain plugs, and thermoplastic baskets that allow a proper water flow when filled with debris. Chemical Control Unit: 2 Solution tanks of the required capacity for chlorine and soda ash dosing (pH-value control) complete with pumps, agitators, and the necessary appurtenances for automatic operation. Unit shall be provided with standard mounting devices and manufacturer's standard accessories to provide a complete chemical control system ready for use. Automatic Residual Chlorine/Soda-Ash Controller: Provide residual chlorine/sodaash controller according to the manufacturer's standard as indicated with the required miscellaneous accessories for the automatic operation. Main Drain: Constructed of a molded white cycolac with a maximum flow as indicated on the Drawings. Wall Inlet Fittings: Directional ball type with flow direction adjustable up to 30o from center, constructed of tough thermo-plastic moldings to suit the type of installation with no-leak flange and with two mounting holes and a protection cap. Underwater Lights: Fixtures shall be as indicated on Drawings and conforming to the requirements specified in Division 16 - ELECTRICAL. Electric Pool Water Heater (Interior Pool Only): Provide factory package electric instantaneous water heater with a shell of SB-96 copper silicon construction conforming to the requirements of ASME Code Section IV, 1971 for a working pressure 150 psi. shall be completely factory-assembled, including a 14 gage sheet metal enclosure complete with hinged door and safety interlock to prevent opening panel door without interrupting power, copper bus bars and lugs for distribution of power, fuses on each load line, magnetic contactors, thermostat, and transformer to provide control circuit power at the required voltage. Recovery section shall also include one electric immersion heating element to obtain the rated KW capacity. An additional manual-reset thermostatic control shall be factory installed to disconnect ungrounded conductors to the heating elements in the event of an overtemperature condition in the storage section. K. Diving Board: Fiberglass with non-slip surface, located as shown on Drawings. Fabricate frames and railings from 50 mm diameter stainless steel tubing. Use the manufacturer's standard anchor fittings. Ladders: Fabricated of single continuous length 50 mm diameter stainless steel tubing handrails; 50 x 100 mm stainless steel non-skid treads, and stamped stainless steel escutcheons as indicated on the Drawing. Maintenance Equipment: Provide a complete maintenance set of accessories including but no limited to a vacuum pool cleaner, wall brush, telescopic pole, thermometer, leaf skimmer, leaf rake and an algae brush.

WATER FEATURE EQUIPMENT A. B. Equipment shall bear NSF and UL approval, and shall be product of a single manufacturer to the greater extent possible. Equipment shall be of an approved design including all accessories required for complete installation of the water feature and fountain system as indicated on Drawings. Equipment shall include but shall not be limited to the following: 1. 2. 3. Pumps: Submersible pumps; number and capacities as indicated on Drawings. Valves: Float valves, balancing valves and gate valves as required. Fittings, Accessories and Connections: Fountain nozzles, drain and overflow armatures fittings, conduits, wiring, underwater lights, electrical and plumbing connections as shown on Drawings.

Submersible Fountain Pumps: Designed for continuous use, with capacities as indicated on Drawings, and shall have bronze motors and pump chambers, stainless steel strainers and impellers, as well as stainless steel shafts and splitshaft motors in special ceramic casing. Fountain Nozzles (Kit): Fountain nozzles shall be of the size and type indicated on Drawings. Overflow/Drain Armatures: Used for emptying fountains and pools as well as preventing the overflow of pools. Armature shall have a bronze body and stainless steel grate, with overflow tubes that can be shortened and adjusted to the water

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Install swimming pool and water feature equipment by an approved Sub-Contractor in strict accordance with the manufacturer's approved shop Drawings, instructions and recommendations. Provide accessories, controls, wiring and piping as shown on Drawings as required for the proper operation of equipment and the intended application. Contractor shall be responsible for the final layout of equipment in the filter room(s). Supply filter operating instructions with a valve sequence of operation in a glass covered frame mounted on wall near filter system. Number valves to correspond with the Operating Instructions Valves Sequence. Piping: Comply with the requirements of the relevant Sections of Division 15 MECHANICAL of this Specification for piping installation. 1. 2. 3. F. Cold Water Piping: IPS schedule 80 PVC pipes with solvent welded type fittings. Hot Water Piping: Copper, unless otherwise indicated on Drawings. Valves: Bronze for 75 mm diameter or smaller and iron-bodied bronze fitted flange gate valves for 100 mm diameter and larger.

Electrical equipment, materials and installation shall comply with the applicable requirements of the latest editions of the NEC - National Fire Protection Association Local Authority, NEMA, UL, SASO, as well as the applicable Sections of Division 16 - ELECTRICAL of this Specification. Grounding: Ground the systems as in conformance with the requirements of Section 16452 ELECTRICAL WORK, INTERIOR. Test equipment and piping, as necessary, to show compliance with the requirements specified. Perform testing in a manner approved by Engineer. Warranty: Swimming pool and water feature equipment Sub-Contractors shall guarantee the installed systems for a period of 2 years starting from the date of substantial completion.
