Basic coated electrode for vertical down welding of filler and cover passes. The weld deposit shows a n ideal combination of high strength and cryogenic toughness down to - 4 0 C . Special design and development work has enabled this electrode to provide exceptional striking characteristics and the avoidance of sta r t porosity on cover (cap) passes. Due to this and the good welding characteristics t h i s special basic electrode off e r s easy handling even under field conditions.(HD 5 ml/100 g). The deposition rate is 80 - 100 % higher than vertical up welding. Basic coated low hydrogen electrode (HD 5 ml/100 g), Ni-alloyed, excellent operating characteristics in all positions, particularly high toughness properties down to - 60 C. Metal recovery about 115 %.

Fully alloyed core wire ensures the most reliable corrosion resistance. Rutile-basic coated Duplex electrode. B hler FOX CN 22/9 N offers excellent positional weldability and thus is perfectly suited for pipe welding. Besides the good wetting characteristics, slag removability, r e s i s tance to porosity and reliable CVN toughness down to - 20 C it is designed with a fully alloyed core wire providing best corrosion resistance and a very homogeneous micro structure with specified ferrite contents of 30 - 60 FN (WRC) and a PITTING RESISTANCE EQUIVALENT PREN of > 35. For wall thicknesses > 25 mm or impa c t requirements down toa 50 Ccoated we B hler FOX ASN 5 is basic recommendIts ourweld basic coat ed electrode electrode. metal shows a s table austenitic micro structure with good pitting resistance (PREN > 35) and crevice corrosion resistance as well as an excellent toughness behaviour down to - 269 C. B hler FOX ASN 5-A i sar u t i l e b a s i c coated electrode providing good operating characteristics on DC and AC, easy slag removal, smooth and clean bead surfaces. It is recommeded for wall thicknesses < 15 mm. Both electrodes are characterized by an increased Mo content (4,3 %) to c o mpensate for segregation in high molybdenum alloyed weld metals to meet equivalent corrosion properties as the relevant base metals with Basic and rutile-basic coated electrodes. For CrNiMo steels with 4 - 5 % molybdenum where very high r e s i s tance against pitting and crevice corrosion is required. The above average-molybdenum content (6.2 %) is characteristic to B hler FOX CN 20/25 M-A and FOX CN 20/25 M, thus compensating for segregation in high molybdenum alloyed weld meta l s . The pitting resistance equivalent (PREN )i s4 4 . FOX CN 20/25 M-A should be preferably used up to wall thicknesses of 14 mm. I ti sd e s i g n e df o r excellent operating characteristics on DC/AC.

Analogous or similar filler meta l s Dissimilar or higher alloyed filler metals (service conditions must be taken into consideration) Preferable for corrosion resistant surfacing and cladding on un or low alloyed base meta l s For dissimilar joint welds between un- and low alloyed steels with high alloyed CrNi/CrNiMo- or ferritic Cr-steels. Approved up to service temperatures of 300 C and 30 mm wall thickness in the as welded condition. Otherwise we recommend FOX NIBAS 70/20, FOX NiCr 70 Nb* or NIBAS 70/20-IG, NiCr 70 Nb-IG* resp. For cladding of un or low alloyed steels (service temperatures as before) as well as for buffer layers prior to hardfacing. Also for repa i ra n dj o i n tw e l d i n go fd i fficult to weld steels with higher carbon contents o rf e r r i t i c m a r t e n s i t i cC r s t e e l s . For joint welding of steels and cast steels with limited weldability and higher strength properties. Also for buffer layers prior to hardfacing and wear resistant build up welding. FOX CN 29/9 SUPRA with 140 % metal recovery. Tougher austenitic weld meta l .A t tack of S-containing media or requirement of matching colour of weld metal may call f o rt h eu s eo ff i l l e rm e tals of analogous composition for the final layer. At service temperatures above 400 C please conta c tu s . Also for dissimilar joint welds of austenitic manganese steels, higher carbon steels, heat resisting Cr-steels or for buffer layers prior to hardfacing.
