USES A softer and more water-repellent alternative to standard Nylon. Used to give the appearance and feel of a corded surface. Shirts with this material do not wrinkle easily and are easy to iron. Used for clothing where a warm, Wool-like material is needed (sweaters, sweatshirts, mittens, hats). Lighter in weight and warmer than Wool. Moisture-resistant.

EFFECT A stitched, raised design or decoration. A puffed or flat trim.

Used to provide contrast or ornamentation, usually to hems, sleeves and collar edges. Can be used on almost any type of fabric or item to print any kind of image or design. Great for apparel that requires large images and designs.

TERMINOLOGY
DEFINITION A warp-knit fabric of several fibers. Has fine vertical ribs on the face and horizontal ribs on the back. An opening or slit in a garment.
USES Used in sections of outdoor apparel, such as chin guards on jackets or for snag protection in sport and outdoor apparel. Used to cover fastenings or giving access to a pocket/opening.

A special type of moisture-wicking fabric comprised of inner and outer layers of synthetic fiber and meshes.
Allows moisture to evaporate on the surface of the fabric instead of trapped between the clothing and skin. Often used for sport and workout apparel as well as for the outdoors in low-temperature climates to prevent hypothermia.

The shapes, sizes and design of printed items change from project to project, and so does the way each printed piece is produced. Before placing your next order, take a look at how these three types of printing work, why you should use them, and when.

Digital
HOW IT WORKS: An image is sent to the printer using digital files (PDFs, InDesign or Illustrator files). You will need to supply embedded fonts or original fonts as necessary. A CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) build, along with the use of rich blacks and the indication of the correct PANTONE color, is required. WHY YOU SHOULD USE IT: A printing plate is not used, saving both money and time. On-demand printing is available along with quick turnarounds. WHEN IT IS BEST USED: More cost-effective on smaller runs. This can include, but is not limited to, folders, business cards, postcards, calendars and envelopes.
Offset
HOW IT WORKS: Images are put on printing plates. Each color of ink is applied separately. This requires files sent to the printer to be set up differently, with a file created for each ink color needed. The printing plates are made based on these separations. Files sent over should have a CMYK build, and include all the fonts and graphics needed.
Wide Format
HOW IT WORKS: This involves a printer that can print on large sheets of material. Sheets range from two feet to more than 16 feet in width, with almost any length possible. This often requires a laminate to protect the product, especially if being displayed outdoors. It also may need to be mounted to thicker material, such as Foamcore or Vinyl. WHY YOU SHOULD USE IT:
WHY YOU SHOULD USE IT: Although the process takes longer, the end result yields sharper, cleaner and more vivid images. WHEN IT IS BEST USED: Most cost-effective for high-volume projects. This includes, but is not limited to, paper pads, catalogs, magazines, stationery and brochures.
Allows messaging to be prominently displayed in a way it otherwise could not have been, and is viewed by a larger audience. WHEN IT IS BEST USED: Wide Format Printing encompasses banners, event signage, tradeshow booth displays, vehicle graphics and much more.
