MOVIE REVIEW: A BEAUTIFUL MIND

I am telling you, its not just an ordinary film. Its a moving masterpiece. A Beautiful Mind is a based on a true story about the Noble Prize winner and a genius John Forbes Nash Jr. Hes a world known mathematician whos searching for an original idea a formula and a discovery that will change his life as he struggles through Schizophrenia (Its a disorder where a person usually hears voices that other people dont hear and sees people that other people dont see as well). The movie clearly defines how he come up with his very own and famous game theory which he got from a local bar when his friends are trying to think of ways on how to get the attention of a particularly blonde girl while studying in Princeton University and thus giving him an international prestigious acclaim which is the Noble Prize dedicated for great men of the history. This particular theory of him, would you believe, has contradicted 150 years of accepted theories giving him a teaching position at MIT.

Along the journey of his teaching profession, came the beautiful Alicia. Shes one of Nashs students and the lady fearlessly invited him into dinner. The two fell in love with each other and got married. There was a time when the professor cant explain through mathematical equation the feeling he has for Alicia. And here comes the twist, through his entire life, John Nash was distracted and hunted by his mysterious friends: one from Princeton University, his roommate Charles with his niece and an agent from the CIA, Agent William Parcher (I suspected that something is isnt quite right at the moment but still I havent got myself into conclusion since they all seems real only to find out in the end that they were all created by Nashs beautiful mind). He believed he was in a mission to break some special codes from comic books and newspapers which gives him acute sense of paranoia. Some of the students from the university he is teaching believe hes crazy talking to someone when nobody was really there. The disease threatens the destruction of his marriage, family and his career. This brings him into several medications from a psychiatric hospital which he refuses to take because of the side effects; he can no longer feel right and think right. He tried to fight the hallucinations himself with the hand of the faithful Alicia Nash who never left him and help him get through with his illness which in the end he come to blows and control though he still sees them around and they still talk to him. They never get old, he concluded as he considers that all of them were a product of his hallucinations. In the end he discovers that life is more than formulas and mathematical equations, that there is love. He decides to go back on teaching and share all the knowledge he has to inspire his students. And heres an inspirational line from the motion picture that caught me off guard and inspires me. Are the hallucinations gone? No, but Ive gotten used to ignoring them, and as a result, theyve kind of given up on me. I think thats sorta what its like with dreams and nightmares. Weve gotta keep feeding them for them to stay alive. The movie is directed by Ron Howard and screen played by some of the finest Hollywood actors and actress including the excellent performance of Russell Crowe as John Nash which he undoubtedly brought the character into life, Jennifer Connelly as Alicia Nash along with Ed Harris, Paul Bettany, and Christopher Plummer. No wonder why it is nominated for eight Academy Awards and won four Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress. The movie also gained positive reviews from critics all over the world due to the depth of portrayal of mental illness and the way the actors played the roles.

A Beautiful Mind takes us into world we usually are never aware of. It gives us a glimpse into the eyes of a suffering genius. It makes us realize how beautiful the human mind is at its finest and the toughness of the human strength to triumph over barriers and stand out. In my 20 years of existence, its one of those few truly inspiring, heartwarming and undeniably beautiful films I ever crossed path with. Its an outstanding true to life story turned into a phenomenal movie ever played on the screen. You should not miss it. And heres another one of those adorning lines from the great movie that left me with a smile at heart and will surely hit you as well: Ive made the most important discovery of my life. Its the only mysterious equation of love that any logic or reasons can be found. Im only here tonight because of you. You are the only reason I am You are all my reasons.
