Nelson Morales Guilty of Robbery & Second Degree Murder of NYPD Police Officer In a trial held in State Supreme

Court in Brooklyn, defendant Nelson Morales, 29, was found guilty on May 24, 2013 of robbery and second degree murder. Morales was one of five men involved in the death of police officer Figoski. Morales was convicted for leading a five man crew in a robbery of a drug dealer, which occurred in December of 2011,who lived his uncles basement and for the shooting death of officer Figoski, even though Morales did not pull the trigger. Pride, one of the crew members who tried to escape after the robbery, shot and killed officer Figoski and was convicted of second degree murder in a Brooklyn trial last month. Defense lawyers for Morales argued that Pride had forced Morales to participate in the crime at gunpoint. Morales faces a 25 year to life sentence and returns to court on June 13 for sentencing.
