Greetings dear readers!

This issue of our monthly newsletter brings about an insight into the Samskras and its role in life. How do these Samskras originate? Do they arise during childhood or they keep forming throughout ones life? Are all Samskras annihilated at death or carried to the next life? Can existing Samskras be changed, purified or even nullified? This issue of our monthly newsletter will address some of these very interesting questions. This edition also brings forth a short description of the unique experiences one undergoes during the practice of five different stages of Vihangam Yoga meditation. How are these different compared to those experienced by practicing other techniques? This newsletter will help explain the reader about the experiences of a yogi and what makes the scientific technique of Vihangam Yoga stand out among the many different practices prevalent today. The editorial team would like to thank all readers for their consistent support in circulating the newsletter to a wider audience and making diligent effort in improving the editions by providing their valuable feedbacks. We wish you all a pleasant and exciting read.

All schools of philosophies respect purity in thoughts, words and actions. These are often valued more than materialistic possessions one has. People talk about good virtues and qualities in a human being. Good moral conduct is what makes a person more respectful in the society. On the same note, it is also essential that our children understand and value the rich traditions, culture and teachings of ancient spiritual scriptures. If the good qualities and virtues are cultivated in them right from their childhood then an unflinching influence of these great attributes are most likely seen throughout their life. And what they learn in this life, are also retained for their next lives too. Why some persons are instantly drawn towards the words of Saints and Fakirs, while others are insensitive towards them? Why some people show restraints and follow righteous path while others get lost in the whims and fancies of the mind? Why some persons appear somber and simple without ego while others walk in pride even at the slightest achievements. It is all due to Samskras that constitutes us and differentiates from others. Samskras are the root of human life. We need to become Samskari to preserve our culture and tradition. A child gets Samskras in his family and spreads it to his kin and siblings. The teachings of Rishis and Munis need to be understood and adopted in our life. Since, the soul is eternal; the Samskras developed in ones life is carried on to the next life and therefore are inseparable. The soul retains the impressions of the previous birth in the form of Samskras, which is what makes him behave differently. His Holiness Sadguru Sadafal Deo Ji Maharaj in the Holy Scripture Swarved defines Samskras as those special karmas that were done in previous lives, but have the influence over us in the present life. Samskras are the tendencies and imprints left by

experiences of previous lives. It continues to build with the karmas and tendencies of the present life. The personality of a person, things we tend to do again and again are due to our Samskras. If one has been involved in righteous duties and conduct in the previous birth, the subsequent births will surely get affected by these actions. Swarveda says
Samskaar jeen poorva ke, aap aap ve aay | Sadguru sharan manay kar, bodh shanti sukh paye || Swarved 01/10/24

The great virtuous souls, those bearing the imprints of Brahm Vidya, the knowledge received in the previous life, those Samskari souls immediately recognize Sadguru at the first glimpse and surrenders to His holy feet. The ocean of bliss then opens up for those Souls. However, the virtuous ones are not just those who have received the divine knowledge/seed of Sadgurus initiation into Brahm Vidya in the previous birth, but are also those who seek Sadguru in present life. It is only when one follows teachings of Saints and Fakirs and now possesses many great qualities becomes a Samskari soul. Such a soul gets the Sadguru in its new birth without much effort and with the blessings from the spiritual master, all his sufferings end.
Poora Sadguru khojo hansa, bhav prakte Sukrit ka vansa | Swarved 6/3/2/1 Poonya punj se Sadguru paawe, moh shok sab vipdaa jaawe || Swarved 6/4/1/10

The Sushmana Pravah or the flow of Sushmana also happens because of the Samskras. Only then the world and the worldly desires are completely annihilated from a Yogi.
Samskaar guru kripa apaara | Khule sushmana gaye sansaara || Swarved 6/1/10/3

Every action we take shapes our Samskras. For instance, when we commit a mistake, it adds up as a subject in our Chitta as a Chitta Vritti. When we repeat the mistake, it definitely adds up as another subject in the Chitta, but now with repetitions, it becomes our Samskra. These Samskras then influence a future action of the person in the present and the subsequent lives. There is absolutely no escape from it. The only way out is to burn off all the Samskras, which is possible by uniting with the Brahm and relinquishing the Karan deha (one of the six dehas of the soul). In fact, the influence of Samskras is so profound that they are not only the imprints of actions done in previous lives, but also Samskras of a different kind appear after self-realization in union with Akshara Brahm. For instance, the strong desire to enjoy the nature while in the Mahakaran deha also adds up to the Samskras. The strong desire to enjoy the material pleasures of the Prakriti is called the Mahakaran deha of a yogi. - To be continued in the next issue

Yoga has been gaining recognition and popularity in recent time under whose fold one gains healthy living rather than spiritual attainment. To this end a number of

self proclaimed yogis are engaged in teaching yogic exercises such as Asanas and Pranayama. Some forms of meditation and other practices of very recent origins are also being taught in the name of yoga. Hatha Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Laya Yoga and Raja Yoga are some of the various kinds of such practices. All these are physical or Prakritik yogas. They are practiced at the physical level of body, mind, intellect and pranas. The ultimate aim of yoga as propounded in the Vedas and the Upanishads is to unite the individual soul (Atma) with the Supreme Soul (Paramatma). This highest form of yoga is called Vihangam Yoga or Brahma Vidya. His Holiness, Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj, the founder of Vihangam Yoga, has clearly provided a very practical approach to attain this Yog. In his holy book, Swarveda, Swamiji provides the glimpses of amazing experiences on the path of this journey to attain Yog or Moksha, the liberation from vicious cycles of life and death. Through the Vihangam Yoga meditation, one easily raises his or her soul's energy to open "Kundalini shakti" (the hidden Potential in all of us) under the able guidance of a true Sadguru and attains soul's conscious state. This is a situation where the soul is in its own state i.e. it is not attached with Mann (or Mind) and Prana. There are five levels in Vihangam Yoga practice. In the divine practice of Vihangam Yoga meditation Level 1 through 5, human spirit raises its consciousness beyond the shackles of mind and prana and sets itself free to experience the ever-lasting true bliss and peace. As we know, the mind and the different organs of the body are themselves inert. The force of consciousness in the soul activates the mind and through it, the various organs. In the waking state, this force flows out into the phenomenal worlds and gives us the knowledge of the world. The five sensory organs, the eyes, ears, nose, palate and skin as well as the five organs of action, the hands, the legs, the organs of speech, excretion and generation are all activated by the mind and so are the three internal organs Intellect, Chitta and Ego. In the Level 1 of Vihangam Yoga, a practitioner is taught to control his or her mind. Once the mind is fixed, its outward flow can be controlled consciously. According to the Rishis, a perfect knowledge of all existence, inert as well as conscious, can be achieved when one has acquired the divine eye of pure consciousness after its dissociation from all the physical attachments such as, the mind, intellect, the Pranas or life force and the body. Hence the force of consciousness has to be channelized inwards willfully towards its origin. On the inward journey of the consciousness towards its origin, mind is the first entity to be restrained so that it may not be able to dissipate our force of consciousness. While we are awake the mind is situated before the eyes most of the time. So to control the mind, dissipation of the beams of consciousness oozing out through both the eyes have to be united at a point where they can converge into one ray. The benefits that one gets by this practice are manifold. The mind is calmed and is freed from all types of tensions and anxieties. One gets the vision of the colors of the five basic elements of nature, the earth, water, fire, air and space. The breath becomes slower, thereby increasing longevity. The practitioner becomes a happier man with greater enthusiasm for work. Sadguru in Swarveda says, Combine first the light of consciousness of the two eyes into a single ray, then

thou shall be able to move up and there is no other way."

Chakshu ke chetan karan ko, ek mein lehu milaye | Urdh bhumi ko chadhi sako, anya na koye upaye || Swarved 01/4/30

In the Level 2 of Vihangam Yoga, Once the mind is controlled with its outward flow through different organs, it is taken to a point in the forehead which is the tri junction of the three channels - the Ingla Nadi (passing through left nostril), the Pingla Nadi (through the right nostril)- and the Sushumna Nadi in the centre. At this tri junction, flows the nectar of divine knowledge, which purifies the mind of its dotages and bestows glazing serenity to it. There are many pleasant experiences at this second level on the journey of consciousness. The mind is pacified and moves deeper inwards. The yogi hears a resounding sound of 'Aum' and sees a soothing and pleasing light. He or she feels peaceful and starts getting a vision of the inner world. His or her mind is elevated to a much higher level than that of an average human being and becomes capable of achieving many divine powers.
Tirveni sangam snana | Sarv karm adhy tahi nashana || Sangam par rishi Sanyam karhin | Gyan shudh bal antar dharhin || Swarved 6/2/7/01

Purport: A famous religious place is sangam that is situated in Allahabad in UP, India. There is another sangam that lies within the head, called Trikuti, where the three veins Ingla, Pingla and Sushmana meet. By controlling the consciousness at this meeting point, i.e., by putting the mind at this place, all sins related to the karmas get washed away. By following the technique of Sadguru, the mind is purified at this place. The practitioner also imbibes many spiritual powers within. In Level 3 of Vihangam Yoga, the consciousness is taken to a point at the top of the head called the Brahma Randra or the Tenth Gate. This is the gate through which the soul enters the human body. The Tenth Gate is very secret. It is the gateway to the bliss of Madhumati or Brahma Vidya (the science of knowledge of Brahma). Without the grace of Sadguru, none can cross this gate and get the illumination of the Akshara Brahma. By concentration at this level, full control and subjugation of the mind and life force (Pranas) is achieved. The body, Pranas and mind are joined altogether. As we move on in this direction, we go on dissociating our consciousness from the body, Pranas and mind.
Dasham dwar var gupt hai, madhumat bhed vilaas | Bin Sadguru gam na mile, anubhav adhar prakash || Swarved 06/02/08

Purport: The 10th door in the body is a secret. Until and unless, Sadguru reveals it, it cannot be known. Only when Sadguru initiates the practitioner to this level, with regular practice of Vihangam Yoga meditation, the door opens up and the divine light of Akshara enters the body. In Level 4 of Vihangam Yoga, after opening the Tenth gate by His Holiness Sadguru Himself, the consciousness is pulled up at a particular distance from the crown of the head by the Master of this science, the Sadguru, where the mind and Pranas dissolve in their origin, the Akshara Brahma. This Akshara Brahma is the creator, the preserver and the annihilator of the universe through its all-pervading vibratory energy. Here the soul's consciousness is separated from its physical bondages. This fourth stage on this conscious journey makes the soul's consciousness free and it is then

bathed in the brilliant light of the Akshara Brahma, which did not manifest because of the Soul's association with the physical body, the mind, and the pranas.

Yog Vihang vidhaan se, mann nij kaaran leen | Akshara ki uplabhdhi mein, mann kar roop na bheen|| Swarved 01/07/31

Purport The mind originates from Akshara. From the technique of Vihangam Yoga meditation, when the yogi experiences the divine light of Akshara, then the mind leaves all its business, and sublimes at its source. The yogi then utilizes the controlled and pure mind and Indriyas in the world. In Level 5 of Vihangam Yoga, a practitioner gets the inner divine eye where he sees the all pervading consciousness, the Supreme Brahma, God, Allah, Jehovah or Ahuja of different religious cults. The yogi perceives a brilliant yet soothing light and sound, which submerges the soul in bliss indescribable. A perfect knowledge of everything comes onto him who has fixed his consciousness at this fifth and the highest stage. We all know that all knowledge and power of action belongs to the soul alone and not to its inert associations. Its conscious power is very much reduced when it flows through the physical sheaths. When this conscious flow is totally separated from the inert physical impediments the capacity to know or act becomes infinitely large and this is what is expressed as superhuman powers in varying degrees in yogis at different levels of the play of consciousness. This journey of consciousness from the gross physical level up to the Para Brahma (Supreme Being) has been explicitly mentioned in the Vedas (Atharva Veda 4/3/14) as "From the earth I ascend to the horizon, from the horizon to the lighted space, from the lighted space through subtle hole to the conscious space and from there to the Supreme Light." Swamiji says in Swarved that the lotus has bloomed forth; the inner sky is thundering and roaring raining nectar all around. The conscious peacock is dancing in the secret zone of its play.
Ab to Chetan Shudh hai, chetan surati samhar | Surati divya nirati bani, mil sukh sindhu duwar || Swarved 1/7/36

Purport When both the mind and pranas get pacified, the soul becomes pure and moves forward towards the abode of supreme bliss by containing the surati. The Surati or the conscious ray of the soul, becomes more refined and subtle, and transforms into Nirati, that finally gets attached to the door of the Shabd Mandal, or the Supreme Being. Now that we know about the Five Levels of Vihangam Yoga, we also should know that just like every student moves through each grade before he or she finally graduates, every Vihangam yoga practitioner has to traverse through these five levels before he or she attains Moksha or Salvation. The divine Sadguru through His Sadguru energy initiates each of us practitioners at our respective levels as and when He feels appropriate. After that, it is up to each of us practitioners to surrender ourselves at Swamijis Lotus Feet and through Seva, Satsang and Sadhana move through these levels and attain union with the Almighty. The divine Sadguru, as he proclaims in his Udgosh, will guide us through this journey and help us reach Amarlok or Salvation, when we surrender ourselves completely at His Lotus feet and commit ourselves to the principles of Vihangam Yoga.

The great glory of Brahma Vidya Vihangam Yoga finds its mention in all the spiritual scriptures like Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagwad Geeta, Ramayana, but is least understood and practiced. During recent times, Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj has revived the same supreme knowledge by creating an encyclopedia of spirituality the Swarveda. This book was written by him on his path of spiritual exploration. Swarveda has the best concurrence of the experience and expression. What is the ultimate goal of life? Swarved says Manav Uttam Deh ko, Paakar lakshya na jaan | Heen mukhya uddeshya se, so dukh jeevan maan || 05/11/37 Purport: It is the human life that is supreme among all the living beings. It is supreme because it has all the gifted tools to make its life a beautiful living. When we strive to achieve any target in the life, there are two systems that come into play. Externally, we chase a transient goal and we exert lot of effort to achieve it. Internally, the consciousness of the soul flows to the senses. The joy and sorrow emerges from the internal system all the time. However, in ignorance we seek its trigger in the external system. Sadgurudeo says, for the internal system, it is all the same whether you aim to become a doctor, engineer, successful businessman and so on. Internally you are directing the consciousness towards the senses and inner organs to derive the sense of joy, satisfaction and peace. In the chase of senses, we have almost gone way off-track from the ultimate goal of the human life and hence we are deprived of the gifted joy that the human life deserves. What is the ultimate aim of this life? Lakshya banaawo prabhu Milan, jivan ka uddeshya | Prabhu prapti sab milan hai, naash amil jag vesh || 01/04/34 Purport: The only one ultimate goal of life is to attain the Almighty- the supreme consciousness, supreme bliss and supreme peace. Rest all are just tools to run the life and are not the ultimate goal. Contrary to the other goals in life, the goal of attaining Almighty involves more of the internal system and hence another branch of knowledge and process that we practice very less unless we meet the master of the Brahmavidya. What is that process? What is that technique? Unlike other goals in life, the ultimate goal involves reversal of consciousness and it is called Paravidya, Brahma Vidya. The technique to traverse such journey requires the direct dealing with the consciousness with the involvement of senses and internal organs only in the nascent phase. The technique of Vihangam Yoga gives us the access to the zone of consciousness. The state of joy and sorrow is all internal and by the practice of the technique of Vihangam Yoga, we start making the necessary internal changes to achieve sustained state of joy. There is an ultimate reward at the end of the reversal journey. It is altogether the experience of the self as conscious entity and the ultimate joy and peace for the rest of the life in the union with the supreme bliss. || Jai Sadgurudeo ||
