Where: Leeson Street, Dublin 2 When: 3 hours a week for two years Role: Advocacy and Policy Assistant - Christian Aid What's Involved? As an intern you will play a vital role in the fight against world poverty. Through campaign support you will enable students, young people, and others to take action that will challenge the systems and structures that make and keep people poor. The role is from August 2013 and requires a minimum commitment of 6 months and 35 hours per week; this however might very week to week. The individual will work with Volunteer Ireland's Quality & Training Programme manager to develop a short, easy-to-use best practice guide for conducting volunteer role risk assessments. This best practice guide will be made available to volunteer-involving organisations on our website, via training etc. Where: From Home, Virtual When: four hours a week until project is completed Role: ISPCC Mentors - Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC) What's Involved: Child Mentoring: The mentoring programme develops a young person's self-esteem and social skills through support and encouragement from a volunteer mentor. The Mentor spends time with the young person each week to chat, have fun and to help the young person overcome any difficulties he/she may have. ***Parent Mentoring: Parent Mentors support and encourage parents/carers to use positive parenting approaches with the children. Parent mentees provide informal emotional support to parents/carers. ***Children or parents are matched with a volunteer mentor for periods of up to one year and they receive one-to-one time, guidance and support throughout this period. Where: Dublin and Wicklow When: 4 hours a week for 2 years Role: Charity Shop Volunteer - Irish Deaf Society What's Involved: Shop Volunteers assist with sorting donated stock and preparing it for sale, customer sales and service, security and shop display. In addition to working with us all year around, we need extra volunteers to support us at key times such as Christmas. Where: 364 North Circular Road, Phibsboro, Dublin 7 When: 2 hours a week for six months Role: Friends of Foroige - Foroige What's Involved: This role aims to connect past members, staff, volunteers or anyone aged 18+ to form a "Friends of Foroige" group. These groups will work to develop Foroige by raising funds and supporting and advocating for Foroige. Groups will meet as little or as often as they choose.
