Lesson Plan #1 Title- Career Readiness Target Audience- 11th Grade Students Description/Objectives Students will conduct research on a vocation, answer specic questions about that vocation, and create a presentation using Edcanvas to teach students about that vocation A- Analyze Learners- According to research, 80% of college-bound students have yet to choose a college major, yet they are expected to pick a school. This project is to enlighten students of different career opportunities and the requirements of those positions. By doing so, students will be able to make informative decisions when choosing a college and a career. S- State Standards and Objectives 1. Students will integrate multiple sources of information presented in diverse formats and media (e.g., visually, quantitatively, orally) in order to make informed decisions and solve problems, evaluating the credibility and accuracy of each source and noting any discrepancies among the data. (CCSS.ELALiteracy.SL.11-12.2) 2. Students will present information, ndings, and supporting evidence, conveying a clear and distinct perspective, such that listeners can follow the line of reasoning, alternative or opposing perspectives are addressed, and the organization, development, substance, and style are appropriate to purpose, audience, and a range of formal and informal tasks. (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL. 11-12.4) 3. Students will create a presentations for the class using Edcanvas (NETS Student Standard 1b,3b,c,&d) S- Select strategies, technology, media, and materials- The instructor will use whole group presentation to introduce Edcanvas and the assignment. The students will work independently on their projects. During the creation of the projects, the instructor will be available to ask questions, will ask engaging and informational questions to the students, provide formative feedback on student performance, and guide students toward meeting their lesson goals. U- Utilize technology, media, and materials- The students will work in the lab and at home to nd resources about occupations. Students will then use Edcanvas to track their ndings and present the information found to their classmates.

R- Require Learner Participation- Students will be actively involved in the learning process as they: 1. Do research about an occupation 2. Create a presentation using Edcanvas and 3. Present their ndings to their classmates. E- Evaluate and Revise- This will be done throughout the lesson and when the lesson is completed. Duration The lesson will begin with a 20 min introduction of the lesson. Students will be given a paper outlining the requirements of the lesson. Students will be given a weeks time in the lab to complete their assignment. Resources - Pencil - Paper - Computer with internet access Instructional Procedures 1. The instructor will pass out the assignment sheet to students (see attached) and review the instructional goals for this lesson. 2. Students will go to the lab to conduct research and complete their Edcanvas. 3. Students will convey their results to fellow students by presenting their ndings to their classmates. Method of Assessment Students will be formative assessments throughout the lesson so they can monitor their own learning and adjust their assignments. Students will be graded using the rubric below.

Assignment Requirements (to be given to students) During this assignment you will conduct research on a particular career. As you do research think about the research techniques that we have been discussing throughout the year. You will then create an Edcanvas displaying your results and then present your ndings to your classmates. Your project is due June 30 and we will begin presentations that day. Your Edcanvas must include: A Bibliography of all resources used in your Edcanvas in APA format 2 videos 3 links to site with more information about your occupation 1 PowerPoint that has already been made about your occupation (if you can nd one, you can create one. But its going to be easier if you nd one on the web). 3 Documents OR Text pages with more information about your occupation Some of the questions you might want to answer might be, you may include others. You must answer the questions with an *. You must answer at least 10 questions in your presentation: *How and why did you choose this career? *What is a typical Day in Your Work Life like? *How much money does this career provide at the entry level? After you work for 10 yrs.? Maximum potential for most talented/experience people? How much of the $$ is usually base pay, bonus (performance driven), prot sharing, stock/partnership ownership, etc.? *What are the working conditions like (Stress, Pace, Physical Comfort, Travel, Environment, Relocation, Hours, Routine vs. Crisis, etc.)? *What education requirements, college degrees, licenses are needed for your career? What Colleges do you recommend for pursuing an education leading to this occupation? *What are the most important skills and abilities required (Creativity, Emotional Distancing, Emotional Involvement, Language/Communication, Manual Dexterity, Leadership, Physical Ability, Persistence, Social Skills, Time Management, Logic/ Reasoning, Negotiation, etc.)? *What is the Outlook for this career? Is there a shortage or oversupply of people in this career today? What are the best opportunities for someone entering into your career? Are there any trends (e.g. demographic, social, legal) that concern you? Any trends that will make this career choice more or less attractive in the future? Does this career involving living in one community all of your life or moving to different cities/states/countries every couple of years? Does this career provide the opportunity to balance time between work and family? What are some related careers that I should consider? Where can I nd more information about this career (i.e., Associations, on-line)?

Lesson Plan #2 Title: Endangered Species Target Audience: 8th Grade Students Description/Objectives Students will do research on an endangered specie. The student will report why the specie is endangered and how humans are either helping or hindering the problem. Students will use Emaze to report their ndings and give a presentation to their classmates. The students will work in teacher assigned pairs. A- Analyze Learners- Students are intrigued by animals and their behavior, environments, and adaptations. To meet the state requirements, students will do research on endangered animals and the reasons they are endangered. S- State Standards and Objectives 1. Students will do research on endangered animals (Ohio Grade 8 Science Standards- Diversity of species occurs through gradual processes over many generations. Throughout Earths history, extinction of a species has occurred when the environment changes and the individual organisms of that species do not have the traits necessary to survive and reproduce in the changed environment. Most species (approximately 99 percent) that have lived on Earth are now extinct. 2. Students will create an Emaze presentation to presents their ndings. (NETS Student Standards 1b, 2a&b,3b,c,&d, 6b) S- Select Strategies, technology, media, and materials- Students will be introduced to the lesson in a whole group settings. Afterwards, students will work in pairs to conduct research on their chosen animal. The instructor will introduce the lesson then assist students in the creation of their Emazes by conducting informal assessments, engaging in students conversation, asking probing questions, and helping to modify student behavior and work. U- Utilizing technology, media, and materials- Students will use the computer and internet to conduct research on their endangered animal. They will create a presentation using Emaze to guide their oral presentation to their classmates. R- Require Learner Participation- Students will be actively involved in 1. The research of their endangered animals and 2. Creating a presentation using Emaze. The students will work in teacher assigned pairs on each project. The students must collaborate and work together to achieve the learning goals of this lesson.

E- Evaluation and Revise- Revisions will be made throughout the lesson and after the lesson is completed. Duration- There will be a 20 minute introduction to the lesson. The students will have week, including computer lab time, to nish the assignment. Resources Computer with internet connection Pencil Paper Video projector Instructional Procedures 1. The instructor will introduce the lesson to the students by giving them their Student Assignment Sheet (attached). The instructor will review the lesson goals, procedures, and answer any questions by the students. 2. The students will be put into assigned pairs. Each pair will select their endangered animal for the lesson. 3. The class will go to the computer lab to begin their research on their endangered animal and begin to create their presentation using Emaze. 4. The students will present their ndings to the class using their Emaze Method of Assessment Students will be formative assessments throughout the lesson so they can monitor their own learning and adjust their assignments. Students will be graded using the rubric below.

Assignment Sheet During this assignment, you will be working in pairs. The goal of this assignment is to: - Conduct quality research - Discuss endangered animals and the reasons they are endangered - Create a presentation about the endangered animal using Emaze Use the research methods we have been discussing in class. You will be graded on participation, so BOTH of you must participate in the project, not just ONE of you. Use this list to select your endangered animal, then tell me what animal you have chosen. Your presentation must include: - At least 6 slides - Each slide must include: - One piece of media (picture, video, etc.) - 3 or 4 bullet points - At least 18 point font (preferably 24 point) - You must have at least one video in your presentation Here are some questions to ask: (At least 6 of these questions are answered and you may come up with more on your own) - What does your endangered animal look like? - Why is this animal endangered? Who caused this animal to be endangered? - Are humans helping to preserve this animal or are humans hindering their existence? - Is there a recovery plan for this animal? If so, what is it? - How many of this animal is left in North America? Where do they live? - What are this animals biggest threats? - Are there organizations whos mission it is to help your animal? - Should we save this endangered species and how can we do this?
