REFERENCE:

Applicants are required to indicate in detail on their CV to what extent their qualification(s) and experience meet the requirements of the post as set out below. The purpose of this brief is to invite language professionals who are able to translate academic texts from English into any of the official languages, namely: Afrikaans, IsiNdebele, IsiSwati, IsiZulu, IsiXhosa, Northern Sotho, Sesotho, Setswana, Tshivenda and Xitsonga. Also, to submit their curriculum vitae for consideration to be included in the database of the Freelance Panel of the Language Services Directorate. Requirements A major in the relevant language or in Translation Studies and/or Linguistics At least five years experience in the translation of academic texts or texts of similar complexity Evidence of translation and editing done (i.e. record of documents translated, names of clients, language involved, eg English/IsiZulu, approximate number of pages, when the work was done, etc) Passing the Unisa translation test Evidence of necessary support infrastructure (eg internet/e-mail, fax, photocopying facilities, etc) Recommendations Involvement in/affiliation to a professional body in the field of languages (eg SATI, PEG, Prolinqua, ZaLang, etc) A postgraduate qualification in the relevant language and/or Translation Studies and/or Linguistics Assumption of duty: As soon as possible Salary: Remuneration is commensurate with the seniority of the position Closing date: 02 August 2013 Enquiries: (012) 429 8583 Mr SM Tau (HR Staffing & Client Services) (012) 337 6071 Mrs RT Negota (Language Services)
