Habitat Brandon Chapter in Manitoba to build again

Brandon July 2013- Habitat for Humanity Manitoba is quickly adding new local Chapters throughout Manitoba including the re-emergence of the Brandon Chapter which includes Brandon and surrounding communities. New chairman of the Chapter, Rick Wells has taken on the responsibility of reconnecting with Habitat by bringing the necessary committees together to help shape the future of the new local chapter. With Habitat Manitobas regional expansion plans gaining ground throughout the province Brandon will play a pivotal role once again by being part of this great cause of building homes for purchase by lowincome working families. Habitat for Humanity has history in Brandon with some previous executive committee members paving the way for a smooth transition as part of a steering committee. We are thrilled to have Brandon and the surrounding communities back onboard as a Habitat Chapter as they have a history of success and know what is required to run a successful Chapter says Steve Krahn, VP, Regional Development for Habitat Manitoba. We look forward to them starting to build as early as next year. All new Chapters are provided considerable assistance from Habitat for Humanity Manitoba. The list includes administrative and accounting support, construction advice and build plans, safety training for volunteers, family selection support, fundraising support, and construction funding assistance through its partners at Manitoba Lotteries and Manitoba Housing. All existing and new chapters will continue to have their local donations go to their communities while receiving tax receipts administered from the HFHM office. Habitat for Humanity Manitoba is a local affiliate of an international nonprofit registered charity committed to eliminating poverty housing and dedicated to making safe, decent and affordable housing for purchase by low-income working families.
