33/220kv s.

s where i am working has line1 and line2 which are in LILO with the grid, now when we are taking the readings from MFM meter active power and reactive power we get is
The sample readings of few hours are follows (Line1 22.3MW,21.6MVAR,&10.23MW,23.5MVAR,-4.3MW,34MVAR), here the sign variation shows variation in current flow but why the reactive power is more in many times than the active power or both equal, and why the variation in sign of reactive power

RaymondUnfollow Follow Raymond Raymond Lee The var flow is due to the shunt capacitance on the line. Depending on geographical location an procimiy yo generation source. Var can flow from both ends of the line is there are generation at boyh ends. Assuming the var requirements are satisfied for energizing the line with no load, there is a var transfer formula for var flow similar to firmula for power transfer. Lines are best utilized to transmit power only for efficiency and minimize losses, i^2z. 1 day ago Unlike Like

I am sure in your case S/S end voltage is varying regular basis. Mainly, flow of active e power depend upon the Voltage angle difference between the sending and receiving end S/S Voltage. If you have system with some reactor/Capacitor bank at both end of line Voltage Magnitude difference is almost zero ,you will be negligible amount of Reactive power flow. 9 hours ago
