For the purpose of this project, we have visited Pearl Global Industries Limited, Gurgaon.

Pearl Global North India (Gurgaon) The Company has six fully integrated manufacturing plants in Gurgaon, capable of producing value added garments in woven & knitted fabrics. The total factory area in North India covers more than 310,000 sq ft of space and provides an efficient and spacious layout. The installed capacity on a single shift basis stands at ten million pc. per annum. The factory is laced with the best garment manufacturing & finishing equipment: - Automatic Brother & Juki sewing machines for Woven & Pegasus for Knits Laundry with ability to deliver great washes & treatments - Value addition through fully computerized embroidery machines of Barudan & Tajima - Integrated systems with EDI facility to provide online access to some of its key customers The units specialize in casual wear dresses, ladies blouses in both woven & knits.

The company is serving the complex needs of some of the best retailers of the world. To name a few, The Gap Inc., JC Penney, Kohls, Next, Macy's, & Esprit. Sourcing Solutions They also source multi product categories from our contract factories and other strategic partners across the globe from high fashion to mass merchandise from best seam to low cost factories. They have dedicated teams placed across the globe who would manage sourcing starting from Fibre, yarns, fabrics, trims, accessories, garments, speciality, performance & technical products.

They have their sourcing offices in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam and Hong Kong. Warehousing & Inventory They also facilitate the management of Inventory for our customer by stocking merchandise at our multi country warehouses based out of USA, India. The warehouse in NJ has 22000 square feet and is fully capable of labeling and hanging work. The Facility is extensively used to deliver products to the customer at extremely short notice therefore enabling the customer to take accurate distribution and forecasting decisions based on inventory. The Warehouse primarily supports US based retailers and brands though a model of short notice replenishment delivery to retailers and brands. Over the period of time the warehouse has specialized in handling FIFO and LIFO based inventory distribution linked through an on line inventory tracker through EDI. This enables the business to bill and ship at very short notices to the customer across any location in the US. This additional facility has enabled the US office to garner new businesses opportunities in the fashion industry. Technology Pearl Global is one of the pioneering companies in the world today which has managed to implement SAP AFS ECC 6 across all its business functions globally starting from cotton to customer. SAP has enabled the business to integrate seamlessly the business process controls and therefore improving delivery to the customer with merchandise and information. Design and process control and augmenting software like Optitex, GSD etc have been introduced to benchmark against the global best practices. EDI tools have been introduced to make information available to the customer on real time basis whether its information about WIP, Order progress, Shipping, Warehousing, Billing, trucking, SKU's, Invoicing and payment remittances. HR Policies at PGIL
1) Welfare Facilities The company wilfully participates in providing benefits to its employees. Last year the company gifted bicycles to its employees for easy commuting. The company also participates eagerly in doing Kanya Daan for its female employees.

2) Promotion Policies The employees are given rewards/bonuses for the performance of their work. So, employees will always give their best and there will be no bias. 3) Ladies are given Maternity leave and their salaries or wages are not deducted during this period. 4) Health & Safety Compliance Health & Safety is the most focussed concern of the factory. In regard to this, employees are provided monthly training of fire drill/fire training. They are also provided PP(Personal Protective) training. The company has a Safety Committee, under which workers are informed how to do work with safety. The company also has Canteen committee, Health & Safety committee, Chemical Training and works committee. They also have first aid lab and first aid trained persons. The company follows strict code of conduct for preventing cases of sexual harassment, in regard to which the company has Sexual Harassment Prevention Committee. 5) Child Labour The company strictly follows the code of conduct to not employ children below 18 years of age in any form of work or labour. The company believes that childhood of a child should be nurtured through education in schools and not in a factory, where it is killed totally. It is well said that adulthood of a nation is the best where childhood of a child is nurtured & cared well. 6) Work Timings The working hours are from 9am to 5pm and workers are paid according to the wage system per hour. From 6-8pm workers are paid double the wages per hour for working overtime. There is also a 45 minutes lunch break and two tea breaks for 15 minutes each.All the work of HR is audited by Auditor Compliance.

Set Up
The factory has 4 floors and a basement. The total plot area of the factory is 41965 sq ft and total covered area is 108796 sq ft. The total monthly production capacity of the factory is 2,20,000 pieces. Total manpower strength of factory is 1408 which includes 1223 males and 185 females. There are 18 production lines and 45-50 machines each in every production line. Number of tailors is 42-48 per line. The factory also has a total number of 1158 machines and 350 tailors.

The factory also takes care of Health and Safety facilities. There are 35 trained first aid persons. In case of a disaster or fire, the factory has 76 fire trained marshals and 249 fire trained persons.
