Rule book

BASKETBALL Team Each team should have 5 playing members Teams can have 5 substitute players (Only a declared substitute can take the field) Teams have to submit the names of the playing 5 and substitutes to the basketball event coordinator before the match There should only be 5 members of the playing team within the court at any given point of time during the match Match Matches will be four 10 minute quarters for the mens tournament Matches will be four 5 minute quarters for the womens tournament One time out per quarter will be allowed to each team Official Basketball rules 2013 as approved by FIBA central board will be applicable throughout the tournament Any change in the rules will be explicitly communicated by the tournaments coordinating body to all participating teams Referees decision will be final and binding

FOOTBALL Team Each team should have only 11 playing members Teams can have 6 substitute players, only a declared substitute can take the field Teams have to submit the names of playing 11 and substitutes to the Football Event Coordinator before the match There should be only 11 members from each team within the playing field at any point of time during the match Match Matches will be of 50 minutes duration with 25 minutes each half and a break of 10 minutes Standard laws of football will be applicable During knockout rounds, if a match ends in a draw by the end of normal, there will be extra time of 20 minutes with two 10 minutes halves to be played If teams are still tied after extra time, penalty shootout will take place If a player is shown a red card or two yellow cards, he will miss the next match Referees decision shall be final and binding.

TABLE TENNIS Team There will be a maximum of 8 playing members (4 men + 4 women) and a minimum of 6 playing members (3 men + 3 women) Team combinations should be given to the Event Coordinator before the start of the match. Match There will be separate events for Men and Women. Each event (Men and Women) would comprise of 3 matches played on a knockout basis Mens Event 2 Mens Singles 1 Mens Doubles Womens Event 2 Womens Singles 1 Womens Doubles All matches will be of best of 3 sets. Each game will be of 11 points. In case of a tie in a game (10-10), the game will then be continued till there is a difference of 2 points between the two teams. Only one player can play a maximum of two matches (Both Men and Women). A timeout of 30 seconds can be given at the discretion of referee for each set per player. Referees decision shall be final and binding.

VOLLEYBALL - MEN Team Each team should have only 6 playing members Teams can have 6 substitute players (Only a declared substitute can take the field) Teams have to submit the names of the playing 6 and substitutes to the Volleyball Event Coordinator before the match. There should be only 6 members from each team within the court at any point of time during the match. Match Each match will be best of 5 sets, with each set of 25 points each. Standard rules without rotation will apply. The serves will change at the completion of a rally. At least three members have to serve in rotation. Referees decision shall be final and binding.

VOLLEYBALL - WOMEN Team Each team should have only 6 playing members Teams can have 3 substitute players (Only a declared substitute can take the field) Teams have to submit the names of the playing 6 and substitutes to the Volleyball Event Coordinator before the match. There should be only 6 members from each team within the court at any point of time during the match. Match Each match will be best of 3 sets, with each set of 25 points each. Standard rules without rotation will apply. The serves will change at the completion of a rally. At least three members have to serve in rotation. Referees decision shall be final and binding.

One player can play a maximum of two matches (Both Men and Women)

CHESS A timeout of 30 seconds can be given at the discretion of referee for each set per player. If the shuttle hits the roof during play, the referee makes a call to award a point or ask for a re-serve On the line landing will be treated as in The shuttle will be treated as Live until it hits the floor. In case the player / racquet crosses the net while the shuttle is live, the point will be awarded to the opponent team Singles: While serving, if the feet of the player touch the boundary lines, it will be treated as a fault Doubles: If the player chooses to use the side gallery for the serve, both his feet should be inside either side the gallery or the main service box. Crossing of feet between side gallery and the main service box would be treated as a fault. Shuttle replacement decision shall be at the discretion of the referee Referees decision shall be final and binding. Team Each team should have 4 playing members Teams can have 1 extra player Teams have to submit the names of playing 4 (Board Wise) and extra to the Event Coordinator just before the start of the first match, post which the board order cannot be changed. The extra player can enter only at the last board. Match All international chess rules will be applicable, unless stated otherwise. Time per match will be 45 minutes per player. The matches will be conducted according to the Swiss League method. The points earned by each team will be the number of boards won by it in a round. In case of a tie in the final results, score of the round between the tied teams will be considered for deciding the winner. In case there is also a tie in the round between the tied teams, then a blitz match between one player from each team will be held in order to decide the winner. (Time for the blitz match will be 15 minutes per player). In case there is still a tie in the blitz, then a Sudden Death (standard rules) match will be played.

THROWBALL Team comprises of 7 Players and 3 Substitute members Match will be decided by best of three sets (21 Points each). In case of tie, set will be decided on 25 points. Service is within five seconds after the referee whistles and is done from the service zone, without crossing the end line. A player can jump while serving the ball. The service ball must not touch the net. Double touch is not allowed for receiving the service ball and players stay in 3-1-3 positions during the serve. During a rally, the ball must be caught at once with both hands, without any sound or movement of the ball within the hands (dubs) and the player should have contact with the ground. Two players are not allowed to catch the ball simultaneously. The ball should be thrown within three seconds after being caught, only from above the shoulder-line and only with one hand. A player can jump when throwing the ball, which can touch the net (but not the antenna). The player should have contact with the ground when catching the ball. However, the ball is not touched with any part of the body other than the palm when catching or throwing (body touch). The ball can neither be shifted (passed) to the left nor right, nor deliberately pushed.

General Rules Maximum contingent size per college is 75 students. A college can participate in any number of events but only one team per college is allowed for every event The format of the Sport events shall be decided based on the number of participant colleges In case of unforeseen circumstances, the host college (XLRI) reserves the right to cancel/modify any event without prior notification In case of any dispute, the host college (XLRI) shall be the final authority.
