Safety and security system

Security is degree of protection against danger, loss, and criminal. Physical security of the building describes both measures that prevent or deter attacks from accessing a facility resources or information stored on physical media and guidance on how to design structures to resist various hostile acts. It can be simple locked door. Physical security is not a phenomenon. It exists in order to deer persons from entering a physical facility. Historical example of it includes city walls, moats, etc. The key factor is the technology used for physical security has changed over time. While in past eras there was no Passive Infrared (PIR) based technology. Electronic access control system or video surveillance system (VSS) cameras, the essentially methodology of physical security has not altered over time. Elements of physical security Explosion protection Obstacle, to frustrate attackers and delay serious ones. Alarm, security lightning, security guard patrols or CCTV Security response to, repel, catch or frustrate attackers

In a well designed system, these features must complement each other. There are at least 4 layers. Environmental design Mechanical electronic and procedural access control Intrusion detection Video monitoring

The initial layer of the security for a building uses crime prevention through design to threats. Ex:- barbed wires, warning signs, fencing, concrete bollards, metal barriers, vehicle height restrictors, lightning.

The next layer includes gates, doors, and locks with access control system. Electronic access control system manager larger user population, controlling for user lifecycles times, dates and individual access points. Protection is reached by integrating key management system to manage the possession and usage of mechanical keys to locks or property within a building. Optical turnstile is usually a part of access control system which also contain with software, card reader and controllers. It uses sound and lights to alert others to attempted entry by unauthorized individuals. System is mainly worked based on infrared beam. X-rays machines are also in access control system. Third layer is intrusion detection system or alarms. It monitor for attacks. It is preventative measure and more of a response measure although some would argue that it is a deterrent. The last layer is video monitoring system. Security camera can be a deterrent in many cases but their real power from incident verification and historical analysis. If alarms are generated and there is a camera in place, the camera could be viewed to verify the alarms. In instances when an attack has already occurred and a camera is in place at the point of attack recorded video can be viewed. Although the term CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) is a common, it is quickly becoming outdated as more video system loses the closed circuit for signal transmission and instead transmitting on computer systems. Advances in IT transforming video monitoring into video analysis.
