I will speak at the Lord's Reapers Banquet on the subject ^'Taiwan: A Key to Oriental Missions." I will also be teaching one of the sessions on a passage from Romans. MISSIONARIES;
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Hi every body! Well, time just keeps moving on. In fact, we have just passed the halfway point of our furlough here in the States. We will be leaving on August 30, the Lord willing, to return to Taiwan. Please continue to pray that the Lord will
bless us and we will be able to raise the

It was great to see everyone again and renew old friendships. We were sorry to hear that Jimmy King, son of David and Jean King, had been run over by a car while sledding. He was operated on and the doctor says he'll be ready to go back to school and participate in sports again

Salem, Illinois. We spent the day with the Featherlings and the Maylons. Even though this church, too, is a country
church, there were many new faces. We were happy to meet all these new people. On the 17th, we spent the day at the Boulevard Christian Church, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. This is the church where we were working as youth
ministers when the Lord called us to Taiwan. The main auditorium had
burned down just before we left. They now have a beautiful new building and the church is really growing. We were able to visit some more of our good friends. I wish we could put into words the wonderful joy that we feel when we are able to fellowship with you all. Next, I journeyed alone to Talequah, Oklahoma, to speak to the Northeastern Christian Chiu'ch there. I stayed with Tom and Barbara Tucker, old school
mates of ours from Ozark. Tom is the

On March 10th, we had the privilege of telling our home church, the First Christian Church of RoUa, about the work in Taiwan. The church here is carrying a substantial part of our support and we thank the Lord for them, as we do for many of you who also share with us in this ministry. Please be in special prayer for Shane.

planning to leave on August 30, if our visas come through in time. We would appreciate your prayers concerning this. We would also like to ask you to pray
that this may be God's way of working with us this time. We hope and pray that if you are not now doing so, that you will begin sharing with us in this ministry.
Also, at the end of this newsletter I will itemize the current needs we have as we prepare to return. Our total need is
for our finances. At the present time, we have about $800 a month regular support. There are others who give spasmodically, but we can pretty well count on the supporters who are giving $800. The rest of the money we receive each month has been special offerings. So we are still in need of $450 of monthly support. The raising of monthly support has been slow. I think part of the problem
lies in the fact that most churches have already made their commitments to a
$3,500. We now have $750 of that, leaving us with the need of $2,750. We are hoping
to get our visas back about August 1st. At that time we will need our plane fare from San Francisco to Taipei, which will

going on in Taiwan, we thought it best not to try to get a car and some other items we had planned to get. Gasoline has gone from 66c to $1.22 a gallon. So we feel that
it would be best for me to continue to use
the motorcycle for normal business and then use a taxi when the whole family goes together. I believe it would be much cheaper than owning a car. Many of you are reading our newsletter for the first time. Over 100 families, churches, and individuals have been added to our mailing list since our last newsletter was put out in April. We would like to welcome you and thank those of you who have joined with us in the work of taking Jesus to the Chinese people in Taiwan. Dear Brothers and Sisters in Jesus, Hi! We hope and pray that this letter finds you and yours well and happy in serving Jesus! Well, the devil is sure getting his licks
take a bath, and fill up the stools. Numerous other small things happened along with re-adjustment to Taiwan so that it seemed like we were spending most of our time living and spending very
little time doing what we came here to dospreading God's Word. We were so discouraged that we wondered if it was
really God's will for us to come back after
in (and I don't mean this light-heartedly). He knows we're back to stay and he is doing everything possible to discourage us. We like to never found a place to live in the first place. But after living with 2
different Christian families for almost a
month, we foimd a place in Tien Mou, about 6 or 7 miles from downtown (about a half hour's drive). When we got everything out of storage, we found that the stove and dryer would
not work. So we had to eat sandwiches
all (Satan has a way of doing that, doesn't he?). But out of this experience, it has really helped us to grow in our respect for
those missionaries who live in areas
and use a hot plate to cook on for about a week. We also had to take our washing over to the Wesley Bell's house (a Christian family we lived with for 2
weeks) to dry during that same time. After the stove and dryer were fixed, then our water pump went out. It took 5 days to get it fixed. During that time, all water had to be carried to fill up the washer.

having English Bible classes. I looked for over a week without success, so we have temporarily set up shop near Alan

Answered Prayer
1. Return to Taiwan to work for Jesus.
Skiles and his family are now in that area and have started an orphanage. He has also continued to have a home meeting
each week at the Chen's. We were invited
for supper. Afterwards, Ted and Beverly Skiles, Sue Rhodes, and I sang some special songs for them. Then I said a few words to the brethren, after which Ted preached a sermon using flannelgraph. The brethren are growing in the Lord and we praise Him for this. Next month we plan to spend Thanksgiving with the Skiles' and I plan to teach this time. Please pray for me that I will be able to study well and get back in the groove of teaching and preaching in Chinese. Also, please pray for Sister Chen as she still is having problems with her stomach. Her
