We want to thank you all very much for your prayers for Shane. He had two operations on his eyes, the first on both eyes, the second just on the right eye. Dr. Zane, a good friend of Dr. Na, Shane's eye doctor, was here in Taiwan for 2
months. He is a specialist from the States
and we thank God that he was here at the
right time for Shane's operation. Dr. Na says that Shane's eyes are coming along fine. They seem to be pretty straight now.

"Congratulations! Congratulations! May you make lots of money in the new year." This is the year of the Dragon. The Chinese have a 12-year cycle, each year represented by an animal or bird. Virginia and I were both born in the year
of the Dragon. The Chinese New Year celebration
lasts for about 15 days. During this part of the year I enjoy going to visit some of my
students at their homes. Most of my
students study at Taiwan Normal University. The biggest part of this college's students are tuition-free students, so most of them are from very poor homes. But what they lack in material things, they more than make up for in their gracious hospitality. This year I was privileged to go to
edward Tsai's home. Edward first
Misty has started going to Chinese kindergarten and is doing real well. Shane had gone to Chinese kindergarten for a little over a year before we returned to the States on furlough. At that time he could speak Chinese like a native. But during the year we were in the States, he forgot almost all of it. When we returned to Taiwan, we tried to get both Shane and Misty into school, but they didn't want to go_they were too embarrassed because they couldn't speak Chinese or un derstand it. So Shane just went to English kindergarten and Misty stayed at home. But she picked up enough Chinese that
around Christmas time she decided she
wanted to go. The teacher says she's doing fine. Even though Shane didn't go
back to Chinese school, his Chinese is also
started coming to our English Bible class in 1970. He is a very soft-spoken yoimg man, but he is a deep thinker. He told us recently that he is seriously considering becoming a Christian. Shane has been
coming along real well. Living in Taipei is very expensive in comparison to living elsewhere on the island. In the last 4 years, prices have
increased over 100 percent. But our support has remained the same. As a

ANSWERED PRAYERS

2. Everyone is slowly but surely readjusting to the Chinese way of life; Shane, Misty, and Tad are doing real well in their learning of the Chinese language. 3. Edward Tsai is very close to becoming a Christian; he believes in God; believes that Jesus is God's Son; pray that he will commit his life to Jesus. 4. God has provided for our needs, both through your gifts and through opportunities of teaching. Praise be to Him who supplies our every need!
