NCC FOOTDRILLS NOTES

-Prepared by MSG Vernice Kristen Lim (PHS NCC UNIT) Introduction: What is the purpose of doing drills? To ensure that the unit move from one place to another in an orderly manner. It is to ensure discipline in all cadets.

Types of Stationary drills & its commands:


Kekiri : left Kekanan: right Kehadapan: front Kebelakang: back

Stand at ease in a platoon Senang diri Arms behind your back. Right palm on top of left palm, with both palm straight Feets shoulder width apart. Stand at attention in a platoon Sedia Upon hearing Sedi straighten both arms behind your back,palms still together, after ya!put your feet together, bring arms to the side, aligning with the seam of your pants, with your fist clenched.

Stand at attention without moving AT ALL Diam Usually to greet higher ranks & teacher officers. Also used in parades Aligning to the right marker of platoon

Kekanan lurus Turn head to the right sharply and align to the right marker of platoon Timing: Up check Face IC after aligning to right marker Pandang Kehadapan Pandang Turn head sharply to face the front immediately after command is given

Moving platoon to( right/ left/back/front) by (one/three/five) steps [Satu (1) / tiga (3)/ lima (5) ] langka [Kehadapan / Kebelakang / Kekanan / Kekiri] gerak If moving left, front or back, left leg move first, and stamp the right leg. If moving to the right, right leg move first, stamp left leg to the side. Timing: (Satu, dua, tiga, empat, lima, which means 12345 respectively after moving each step before stamping the oppsite foot.) Counting the strength of the platoon (used by IC) Dari Kenan pilang From right to left, first cadet from each row (vertical row) shout their rank number (most right shout ONE, follow by two etc.). After the cadet from the last row shout his/her rank number, the cadet from the last rank and last row (most left cadet from last rank) shouts how many rows there are and how many blank files, followed by the ICs rank (same rank, call the IC, IC) (Eg. for the case below, most left cadet of last rank must shout 8 rows and no/1/2 blank files IC!

Turning body to the direction you want [Kekanan/ Kekiri/ Kebelakang(180 degree)] pusing Timing: Upcheck Both arms must be locked to the side ALL THE TIME with fists CLENCHED ALL THE TIME. Turn at up, dont do anything at check, after check bang the opposite foot.

Saluting Hormat kehadapan hormat Timing: Check up Dont do anything at check Bring right hand up sharply with hands straight at up, index finger should be near the right end of your eyebrow, meanwhile lock your left arm by your side and look smart. After saluting, simply give the Sedia command, upon hearing ya! cut down the salute sharply and continue to lock your arm and clench your fist by your side.

To spread out in the platoon Dalam Bukat Barisan, Kekanan lurus Timing: One check, Up check Usually for checking of attire and bearing, or when receiving things from Sirs/ Mdms. First row move one step forward, moving left leg (Timing: one) first then stamp right leg to the side of the left(check). Second row stay stationary, last row move one step backwards, moving left leg first, stamping right leg to the side of left. After moving, turn head sharply to the right and align with right marker.

Closing back the platoon Dalam tutuk barisan, kekanan lurus Timing: One check, up check Same procedure as spreading platoon, except that first row take one step back and last row take one step forward.

Marching on the spot Hendak Kaki Cepat Hendak Timing: Left, Left, left right leftleft, left, left right.. repeat till youre commanded to stop. Lock arms by the side, with fists clenched all the time. Start with left leg, leg must at least be 90 degrees when raised.

To stop marching Berhenti Command is given on the right leg. Timing: check (Command (Ti!) is given on the right leg, so say check when you stamp your left foot then stamp the right and stop.

Types and commands of drills when ON THE MARCH


For the platoon to march off Dari (Kiri/ Kenan, depending on which side of the platoon you are on, if youre standing on the right side of the platoon, its kenan) , cepat jalan Always start marching with your left leg first. Left leg forward, bring your right arm 90 degrees forward, pointing straight to the front, your left arm 45 degrees to the back, and vice versa.

Stop the marching platoon Berhenti Timing: Check one Same command but different execution. Ti! here is given on the left leg. So timing, check will be given on the right leg, follow by one given on the left and then stamp right leg to the left and stop. (Note that by check, your arms should already be locked to your side)

Move platoon to right or left (not turning 90*) while marching Dari [Kiri/kenan], impek [Kiri/kenan, depending on which side you want to move to] Move to the right or left while still marching and facing the front, in a way moving diagonally then continue marching forward. Timing continues normally throughtout, theres no stop or change in timing.

Make the platoon march immediately after marching on the spot Maju Command given on the right leg, do a hendak kakis berhenti and immediately march off after that. Timing: Check (for berhenti), left left left right left so on so forth (to march).

Salute while marching

Used when you want the platoon to salute w/o halting the march. Hormat kehadapan hormat Timing: Check one, check up check down check up check down, turn check, check left left left right left. First, the timing check one is for doing a berhenti on the march first (Refer to the info above if you do not know how to execute this) to stop. Followed by check which you dont need to do anything but sedia. Followed by Up check, down check, up check down, upon hearing Up salute immediately, check, do nothing. Followed by down check upon hearing down cut down your hand. Up check down, salute again and cut down again. Next, itll be turn check this is when you do a kebelakang pusing (refer to the upper portion of the notes) and then continue marching normally till the next command is given.

Turning 90 degrees to the right/left on the march Dari [Kiri/kenan, depending on which side of platoon you are on], [kenan/ kiri] belok No change in timing. Upon hearing the command lok! the person nearest to the named direction turn 90 degrees sharply towards the instructed direction and continue marching towards the new direction the remaining two in the row just follow. XXX turn 90 degrees sharply if command is kenan belok Note that while executing this drill, the row must be straight ALL the time which means the remaining two will have to take bigger steps to catch up.

Turning 180 degrees on the march Kebelakang pusing Timing: Check left right left check Command is given on the left leg. Sing! is followed by check stamp your right foot to the side of your left. Left stamp your left foot to the front of your right toe forming a T . Right, stamp your right foot, heel to heel with your stationary left foot, forming an L shape. Left, stamp your left foot slightly to the side of your right foot, forming a V

shape. Followed by check, stamp your right foot on the spot then continue marching normally and timing normally. To form your platoon into a U-shape formation (more for the Sec3s) Usually used for mutual, where you need the whole platoon to get a clear view of what youre teaching them. Because of the long command, im going to type them down point by point. After sedia: Barisan depan diam. (Front rank diam) Barisan tengar (kekiri/kekanan) (middle rank face left/right, direction is up to you) Barisan belakang (kekanan/kekiri, opposite of middle rank) (back role face left/right) Kekanan dan kekiri pusing (Upon hearing the sing!, middle rank and back rank turn to the direction theyre commanded) (Timing: Up check) Barisan tengar (kekiri/kekanan, opposite of the direction you asked them to turn to just now) belok, (No action here, this is just an instruction, telling respective ranks which direction to turn to after they start to march off to position.) Barisan belakang (kekanan/kekiri, same as tengar) belok (No action here, this is just an instruction, telling respective ranks which direction to turn to after they start to march off to position.)

Dari Depan, cepat jalan (Asking the two ranks to start marching) (timing: Normal marching timing)

When the whole rank reach their respective positions ( to form a U-shape), tell them to Hendak Kaki Cepat Hendak.

Berhenti the platoon. Barisan tengar separo (kekanan/kekiri, the direction you are at) (to ask the middle rank to turn 45* to the direction you want them to) (note that you need to remember which one is the middle rank and which one is the back rank before saying the command because by now, they already moved to your left and right.)

Barisan belakang separo (kekanan/kekiri) (to ask the back rank to turn 45* to the direction you want them to)

Kekanan dan kekiri pusing (Middle and back rank turn to instructed direction)

Platoon Senangdiri (Drill is done) Final result you get: X (IC) x x right each side x almost the same x should have x x *Roughly, by

Just for your information:


When you want to march off a platoon properly, especially when youre in HQ NCC, the more proper command will be Begarak kekanan/kekiri ber tiga-tiga, kekanan/kekiri pusing then you yourself turn to the same direction (after they turned) and give command to march off together. After your platoon finish marching and you berhenti them, when you want them to face you, the more appropriate command will be Akan Mehadap kehadapan, kekiri/kekanan pusing.
