Literati:Rosette: Welcome

Literati Karen: Hi and Welcome to the Chat for author Kailin Gow, we will be starting the chat at 9 p.m.
Literati Karen: Hi Mary Elizabeth welcome to the chat form Kailin Gow.
Mary Elizabeth: Hi Karen
Kailin Gow: LOL Great to see everyone here!
Mary Elizabeth: Hi Kailin
Literati:Rosette: Welcome Mary and Kailin
Kailin Gow: Hi!!!
Literati:Rosette: We will be starting in a bit!
Literati:Rosette: How have you been Kailin?
Literati Karen: How are you doing Kailin?
Kailin Gow: Great! Thanks for asking! I've been waiting for NEVER ENDING (NEVER KNIGHTS #3) to release
on Amazon, but it's been over 12 hours. LOL. It will release today though, finger crossed.
Kailin Gow: Hi Andrea!
Andrea: Hello

Literati:Rosette: Yay that is great to hear Kailin!!

Kailin Gow: Hi Bobbi, Mary Elizabeth, Karen, Rosette!
Literati Karen: Finger Crossed Amazon can be quick or extremely slow,
Literati:Rosette: What made you want to become a writer Kailin?
Literati:Rosette: We can start, everyone can just go ahead and ask their questions. If you get missed please
ask your question again!
Kailin Gow: Thanks! Never Ending is the last book in the Never Knights Series so it willl be great to finally
find out who Never ends up with!
Mary Elizabeth: what and when will your next book come out
Kailin Gow: To answer your question Rosette, I've always had an overactive imagination and started telling
stories as a child. In fact my mother entered me into impromptu storytelling contests when I was a child. I
wrote my first book, which was a fantasy at age 9 but it is happily buried.
Tiffany: Hi everyone!!
Literati Karen: Hi Tiffany
Literati:Rosette: Aww that would be cute to publish I bet!
Andrea: Hi, Tiffany
Literati:Rosette: Mary had a question as to what your next book will be
Kailin Gow: Mary Elizabeth - the latest book to come out is Never Ending (Never Knights #3), which is a New
Adult/Adult Contemporary Fantasy Rock Romance. The premise to the series is what if a hot sexy girl
becomes the lead singer in a band full of sexy rocker guys? Can she resist dating any of them and be serious
about a career in rock?
Kailin Gow: Hi Tiffany - Welcome!
Literati:Rosette: I have wine, red or white btw. I also have beer! I shall virtually pass it around.
Andrea: Naughty Mafia is right around the corner, I can't wait to meet you.
Kailin Gow: Rosette - that story may get resurrected at some point because it's actually very much like some
of the pixar films you see today lol!
Literati:Rosette: Welcome to the chat! Please ask your questions If you get missed just ask again!

Kailin Gow: Andrea - can't wait to meet you too lol!!!

Kailin Gow: Rosette - that sounds delicious. Virtual cheers to everyone!
Andrea: Who has been your favorite character to write?
Literati Karen: Kailin, you write such diverse books, do you have a favorite genre to write in and which is
you favorite genre to read?
Literati Karen: Everyone this is a total open forum so jump in and ask Kailin a question.
Kailin Gow: Andrea - good question!!! I love all my characters, and they are like my children. It's hard to
pick a favorite. But there are some that are easier to write than others. They are very vivid and vocal!
Amanda: Hello everyone, trying to catch up.
Tiffany: How do you decide on the names of your characters?
Mary Elizabeth: I love the Master Chef books! How many books will there be in that series?
Kailin Gow: Good question Karen about my fav genre to write in and to read. I constantly like to challenge
myself by going into different genres or trying a new way of telling something, breaking type or formula (so
to speak). My thing is...sometimes something may look or sound familiar, but there is a twist or something
different.
Tiffany: Speaking of the Master Chef series, why did you pick Paris as the location versus another European
city?
Tiffany: Speaking of the Master Chef series, why did you pick Paris as the location versus another European
city?
Tiffany: Sorry that posted twice
Literati:Rosette: No worries!
Literati:Rosette: This is really laid back, open and fun.
Kailin Gow: So to answer your question on fav genres to write and read? I find writing fantasy and dystopian
very freeing for me. It's an escapism as well, and I really do go into that world for a while when I'm writing.
Writing contemporary stuff delves further more into the psyche, which is another area I like to explore. It's
more raw and definitely something I have to go further within to write.
Literati Karen: #Kailin follow up question, is fantasy freeing because you get to devlope the world, so
everything is by your design?
Kailin Gow: Hi Tiffany - good question about picking Paris as the location for Devour Me (Master Chefs #1). I
picked Paris because that was my dream culinary learning experience. It is romantic, and it provides the
perfect setting to meet someone like Errol, as well as for Taryn to get lost.
Andrea: Do you generally have muses or inspiration for your characters or do they usually design
themselves?
Amanda: Are you ready for Naughty Mafia signing?
Kailin Gow: Hi Karen - YES! I love world-building. I never did fit into the common mold so being able to
create a whole different world as in fantasy worlds is freeing.
Literati:Rosette: I think Tiffany had a question about how to decide names of your characters

Kailin Gow: To answer your question, Andrea - I do have muses and inspirations for characters. Sometimes
they come vividly to me via a dream or a vision or just a clear picture. As far as muses, I'm so interested in
people, meeting people and getting to know them. I was a journalist in colllege and as a young adult, and
that helped me interview and meet a lot of very fascinating people. But sometimes the most fascinating
people are the ones in front of you!
Literati:Rosette: Mary Elizabeth had a question regarding how many books in the Chef's series will be. If
your answer gets missed, please ask again.
Kailin Gow: Hi Tiffany - on deciding about characters' names...I tend to pick what fits them most...for
instance Kalina in PULSE, happen to be tied into some vampire folklore.
Kailin Gow: Trying to get to everyone's questions! Sorry if I missed anyone

Literati:Rosette: Andrea has a question and then Amanda No worries Kailin.

Kailin Gow: Amanda - yes, definitely looking forward to Naughty Mafia! Can't wait to meet everyone!
Kailin Gow: Mary Elizabeth, to answer your question, the Master Chefs books will have 3 books - Devour Me,
Savor Me, and then Consume Me.
Andrea: When does Loving Summer series wrap up? Will we know who she chooses in the next book?
Kailin Gow: I think I answered all the questions so far?
Literati:Rosette: Yes

Literati:Rosette: Andrea has a question

Kailin Gow: Andrea - the next book after Perfect Summer is Secrets of the Fall (Donovan Brothers) which is
from the Donovan Brothers' POV but furthers the plot and story of the overall Loving Summer series. After
that is Perfect Summer.
Literati:Rosette: What is everyone's favorite Kailin book thus far if you had to choose one?
Andrea: So, 2 more books before I find out if she chooses Drew

Literati:Rosette: Welcome
Kailin Gow: Hi Thelma - Welcome!
Kailin Gow: Andrea... two more books to give Summer a chance to really find out what she wants. It's not
instantaneous so that's why she has to go through this journey. Plus, she has gone through some major
major tragedies and struggles.
Andrea: I really enjoyed Loving Summer. I just started reading Kailin's books recently.
Literati:Rosette: We are caught up on questions, so please feel free to ask your

Amanda: I'm team Drew too, Andrea lol

Thelma: Hello..i came in to ask how long it takes you to complete a book...i whine incessantly once i like an
author an d have to wait...lol

Kailin Gow: Thank you Andrea! Loving Summer was based on some real experiences I've had.
Literati:Rosette: Haha You sound like me Thelma!!
Amanda: Which series would you say you had the most success with?
Kailin Gow: Hi Thelma, I'm currently juggling writing between 15 to 20 book series so it takes a while to get
to the next book of someone's favorite series lol! It's like nanowrimo everyday for me. I generally write about
7000 to 10000 words a day when I'm in writing mode.
Literati:Rosette: Amanda had a question next.
Kailin Gow: Amanda - I would say it depends. About 2 years ago, my fantasy ones were flying, and then last
year, my contemporary ones did really well. But each series has different "successes". Success to me also
means whether or not a book has touched someone's life, whether it gets picked up to be read by a class.
Thelma: Ok...thank you...judging by the amount of series you've mentioned...i will always have a book of
yours!!! Lol
Literati:Rosette: Has everyone read the Chef series?
Kailin Gow: Aww Thelma - THANK YOU!!!
Amanda: Yes, I've read the Master Chef series.
Literati:Rosette: and when will you expect Consume me to come out?
Andrea: I've read both Devour Me and Savor Me.
Kailin Gow: Hi Rosette, I'm expecting Consume Me to come out around December or so.
Thelma: Very Welcome...i love your writing style..it has such heart..
Literati Karen: What is the most difficult part about writing a erotic series like Master Chef?
Amanda: I know one of the reviews I read on the tour said they hoped Taryn's brother would get his own
series when he's a little older. Do you think that will happen?
Kailin Gow: There may be some follow-up books for that series because everyone is loving Matt, the
handsome sweet firefighter from Savor Me. And Bobby has an interesting story, too. Wonder what he does on
the side? He's going to get his own New Adult series.
Kailin Gow: Thelma - you made my day saying that. Thank you!
Andrea: I was a fan of Matt's for sure in Savor Me.
Literati:Rosette: Firefighters have to have their follow up book! LOL They are just to darn sexy!
Kailin Gow: Karen, the funny thing for a writer who comes from writing other genres to writing erotic series,
is that my erotic series tend to be heavy in character development and plot rather than all sex, but I do add
plenty because it is an important factor in the characters' lives and relationship.
Literati:Rosette: I know you've done a lot for your community, is there anything presently you are involved
in?
Kailin Gow: Andrea - there is definitely more of Matt and Bobby in Consume Me!
Andrea: happy dance

Literati:Rosette:

Kailin Gow: Rosette - thanks for asking! I'm hosting the book signing in Vancouver benefiting the Amanda
Todd Foundation (anti-bullying and suicide prevention) in October. I'm also hosting book clubs at Battered
Women's Shelters as a way for them to find reading as a means of escapism.
Literati:Rosette: Wow that is really admirable Kailin.
Literati Karen: What do you find the hardest aspect about being an Indie author and the easiest.
Amanda: Are you surprised at the interest in Matt and Bobby or did you write them with the idea of spin offs
for them?
Kailin Gow: Oh, actually I'm sponsoring the Vancouver event. I'm hosting a book signing in November in
Orange County, CA with a tie-in to a charity as well, but the charity hasn't been determined yet.
Kailin Gow: Thank you Rosette!
Kailin Gow: Good questions Karen! The hardest aspect about being an Indie author is that you have to do
almost everything. You really have to wear many hats. However, I've had 3 instances where I've been offered
traditional contracts with established publishers, and I've found that to do well as a traditionally published
author, you pretty much have to roll up your sleeves and do a lot of your own promoting, etc. too!
Kailin Gow: Karen, I actually received a contract to be published by a traditional publisher when I first
started, but opted to publish the books myself because of the timing of the books' release.
Literati:Rosette: Does anyone else have any other questions before we conclude?
Bobbie: sorry i missed most
Bobbie: was confused on the time LOL
Literati:Rosette: Do you have a question Bobbie?
Bobbie: not now
Kailin Gow: Oh, Amanda's question is about Matt and Bobby - I kinda knew Bobby was going to be this
character who has a very interesting life. But Matt was a surprise!
Literati:Rosette: Please, go ahead if you do

Bobbie: are you planning to visit chicago?

Literati:Rosette: Great question, as I live closer to there than Las Vegas
Kailin Gow: Bobbi! I am going to be signing in Chicago in 2014! It's in my signing calendar on my facebook
page.
Bobbie: it seams that signing events are so secretive why is that?
Andrea: Thank you LLL for hosting these chats. It's always fun to chat with the authors.
Kailin Gow: Bobbie lol - that's just because there are a lot of last minute details to finalize before it can be
broadcasted out to everyone.
Literati:Rosette: You are welcome Andrea! We love doing them!
Kailin Gow: Thank you LLL and everyone for having me and asking great questions! Whew!
Literati:Rosette: Thanks so much Kailin for being with us
Bobbie: there are so many indie authors that have a hard time getting in them why is that? so many id like
like to see but cant get connected for some reason LOL
Bobbie: thank you sorry i was late
Literati Karen: Bobbi we have a list of signing on our blog
Literati:Rosette: No worries! Have a great night everyone. Please join us again soon and watch out for our
future author chats
Kailin Gow: Thank you Rosette and LLL! Oh, Bobbie, I totally understand about how hard it can be for indie
authors to be in signings. What I would encourage them to do is to start their own if the door's not open for
them. That's what being indie is about...
Literati Karen: http://literatiliteraturelovers.com/book...
Literati:Rosette: Thanks Karen

Bobbie: thank
Bobbie: you
Literati:Rosette: Goodnight!
Literati:Rosette: Sweet Dreams
Kailin Gow: Thanks everyone and I will announce when Never Ending finally gets release...hopefully tonight
lol!!!! <3!!!
