igus exhibits high performance plastic bearings for the first time at DSEI 2013
igus UK Ltd Stand N6-396 DSEI 2013 ExCEL, London 10th 13th September 2013
Leading polymer specialist, igus UK, will be showcasing its high performance triboplastic bearings, energy chains and cables at the DSEI show in London for the first time, on stand N6-396. Visitors to the stand will be able to see live demonstrations of its industry-leading maintenance-free bearings as well as its energy chains and chainflex continuous-flex cables, which are perfect for dirty and dusty environments and are proven in military equipment. One of the main highlights at the igus stand is its established range of iglidur high-performance polymer bearings which are lubricant and maintenance-free over their entire lifetime. The bearings give excellent friction and wear values and are resistant to dirt, water, chemicals and extreme temperature, making them the perfect choice for military applications. The insensitivity to dirt and ruggedness of the iglidur PRT slewing ring bearings, for example, can be complemented with stainless steel head rings, meaning it is reliable over a long service life. The bearing material offers a low coefficient of friction, as well as being resistant to chemical aggressors, and features low moisture absorption and good vibration dampening properties. Available in a range of sizes with internal diameters of up to one metre, they provide an extremely cost effective solution compared to metal alternatives. In addition, igus will be showing its range of energy chains, which are made from high performance plastics they are tough, resistant to corrosion and impact offering high UV, temperature and precipitation stability, over extremely long working lives, making them a cost-effective choice. The benefits provided by igus

energy chains means that they are being widely adopted in military applications and, since plastic energy chains are much lighter than steel, their size is not self-limited by weight. Complementing the energy chains are igus chainflex cables that are equally well-suited for operation in harsh military conditions. igus has been developing its cables for over 20 years and its chainflex cables have been designed with demanding moving applications in mind, giving reliable performance with high cycle rates, compact design spaces, and very small bending radii of up to four times the outer cable diameter.

Experts from igus UK will be on hand to provide advice and guidance on selecting energy chains, bearings and cabling assemblies for your own specific application.
