Reasons for Admission

Mother of children taken to city hospital this morning for confinement – baby girl was born dead.

Miss Flemming, the social worker from City Hospital telephoned here to find out if the four Vinette
children could be cared for in the House while their mother is in the Hospital.

Once before when woman was sick, the father tried to work and look after children too. At that time the
children became State charges, but were returned to the parent when the mother was able to look after
them again.

Francis, the oldest child is mentally deficient, and is in the ungraded room at Lamartime St. School. All
the children look to be undernourished.

June 9, 1924 – Mrs. Vinette left City Hospital Saturday, and today Mrs. Vinette came and took the
children home.

Jan. 19, 1926 – Viola, Aurthur and Georgianna are in the Home again by the request of their father. Mrs.
Vinette is in the Worcester State Hospital being treated for mental trouble. Mr. Becker, City _____, is
helping family and is helping family and is making the necessary arrangements for children to become
State charges. In the meantime the children, Viola, Arthur and Georgianna are to stay in the House. The
oldest child, Francis, was taken to Waverly State School shortly after leaving here in 1924. Mr. Vinette is
lame, and has rheumatism so he goes to City Hospital. Out – Patient Dept. At present he is out of work as
he had to stay at home and look after the children.
Jan. 27th, 1926- Viola, Arthur, and Georgianna went back to their home today, as they have coughed
badly since being here and Ms Emerson thinks they might have whooping cough.
Later –
On February third Miss Robinson, one of the workers at the overseers of the poor office, tooks the three
Vinette children to Boston where they are to stay in the temporary house till placed in boarding house by
the state.
Two days later Arthur ran away and was found by a policeman, wandering the street in Somerville. A
Policeman communicated with Worcester authorities and was advised to return boy to temporary house in
Boston.
