, Hanoi Tel: (04) 3 5533560 Email: ngaplt@hanu.edu.vn December 11, 2009 To Whom It May Concern Dear Sir/Madam, This reference letter is provided at the request of Vu Hoang Lan, who has asked me to serve as a reference on her behalf. Please be advised that the information contained in this letter is confidential and should be treated as such. I have known Lan for the past 5 years as she has taken the following courses which I teach: English (reading, listening, writing & speaking), Investment & Portfolio Management bringing knowledge about financial markets & the instruments that are available to investors and the perspectives of different market conditions, Entrepreneurship bring about instructions of how to write a business plan. As her professor, I have has an opportunity to observe the student's participation and interaction in class and to evaluate the student's knowledge of the subject matter. I would rate Lans overall performance in these subjects as above average, which is evidenced by her grades 7.9 for English, 8.5 for Investment & Portfolio Management and 7.5 for Entrepreneurship. Her grades for other financial subjects are also at a high level among the students in the faculty. As part of her grade in Investment & Portfolio Management, Lan was required to take 4 Small Tests along the course. The 15 minutes tests were designed to measure the students ability to remember & analyze the theory, applying theory to practice and logical thinking under time pressure. Lan submitted all of the tests on time with the results above 8.5 marks for each. Based upon this, I rate the student skill of excelling and competent. Other areas in which Lan performed above average was leadership and communication skills. She has the talent to motivate and encourage others in a natural way, which I usually saw when she was in assignment teams. Above 4 years study under the education style imported from developed countries like Australia, Lan had the chance to fully promote her creativeness and activeness. In addition, the passion that Lan has for finance and management is the biggest asset that she possessed that could make her successful in any further study in the relevant field.

Based upon Lan's academic performance and my understanding of the MBA program for which she is applying, I believe Lan would perform above expectation. If you would like to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me. Yours faithfully,

Pham Le Thu Nga
