She looks up, startled then wary. FRANK Sorry to interrupt. Is that a call you can hold for a minute? ANNA (hanging up receiver) Sure. FRANK Id like to buy you lunch if I may. DAY RESTAURANT Frank pulls her chair out for Anna in a quiet restaurant that may be somewhat more upscale than shes accustomed to. Shes uneasy in any case. FRANK (after theyre seated) I thought we could both use the privacy. She nods but theres an awkward silence as Frank searches for a way to open the conversation. We cant hear their conversation, but the intensity between them tells us theyve opened to each other. THEIR TABLE ANNA I was two years old when they sent me to this country. FRANK The whole time you were growing up, they never told you any more than that? ANNA They wouldnt talk about it. What had happened to my parents. I learned not to ask. Then, I dont think I wanted to know. FRANK ...So your cousins became your siblings.

ANNA Yes. We were all very close. They must have asked questions, but they never said anything to me if they did. My uncle was very strict. FRANK What did they tell you about Guatemala? Anything? FRANK Shed always said it would be one coast or the other. After she got her masters, her mother and I encouraged her to travel. We thought for a while she might end up living abroad for a few years. combines the present and 16th Century. A LITTLE BOY of 810 and his younger SISTER are accompanied by mid-30s PARENTS. Ranks of soldiers with longbows and Kalishnikovs, jesters, jugglers, musicians, perhaps a bear led on a chain, stream past until the King in his coach approaches. A GASP goes through the crowd but is quickly stifled, as are the spectators expressions of astonishment and the looks on the parents faces. But the bafflement on the boys face intensifies as he looks from the coach to his parents and sister, the faces of everyone around him. Theyre all completely neutral, waiting to learn how theyre to respond. His sister gives him a sidelong glance to determine his reaction). As the Kings coach draws nearer, a TRUMPET FANFARE and announcement by the Kings ATTENDANT, who looks like he belongs in a car commercial. ATTENDANT Loyal subjects, the Kings new clothes! At last we see the King himself, and except for a luxuriant fur mantle about his shoulders, hes standing stark naked in the coach, hands on hips in the proud and familiar pose of King Henry VIII. A few tentative claps from the crowd, then his cowed and loyal subjects all join in, somewhat dubiously at first but then erupting into loud sustained applause. The boy cant believe this. He looks from the King to his parents, who give him a warning shush, and finally despite his mothers futile attempt to cover his mouth blurts out: BOY But hes naked! Another GASP from the crowd, but louder, full of something like horror this time. A man near the coach, part of security obviously, points to the boy. Several Blackwater goons run toward him. The boy is terrified as is his sister, who looks to

their parents for help. But they look straight ahead, refusing to acknowledge the troublemaker. Realizing hes been abandoned, the boy finally turns to run, his face a mask of sheer terror. INT. DAY BEDROOM Frank awakens from this nightmare, the expression on his face like the boys. His is bathed in sweat. INT. DAY KITCHEN Frank pours himself a cup of coffee and takes a sip. He sits down with the morning paper but is too agitated to read. He gets up with his coffee, lost in thought. Perhaps remembering his dream, he gazes out a window over the kitchen sink, not really seeing anything. EXT. DAY BEACH Frank and Anna stroll on a beach which we learn is part of the Jersey Shore. ANNA This was a pleasant surprise. FRANK For me every bit as much as for you. ANNA That Id accept your invitation, or that Id agree to come here? FRANK Both. I havent been here very often myself. ANNA This is the first time for me.

FRANK (contd) Calling 9/11 an act of terrorism doesnt alter the fact that it was the worst mass murder in the nations history, Anna. But Ground Zero wasnt treated like a crime scene. Physical evidence was shipped off on barges, as soon as it cooled down enough to handle. And the co-chairmen of the commission finally set up to investigate it, despite the best efforts of the White House to prevent it, said that NORAD and the FAA lied to them about what the hell happened to our air defense that day. ANNA But I thought the 9/11 Commission cleared all that up all the talk about conspiracy theories. FRANK Not for some of us, Anna more of us all the time. I think they tried. A lot of good people worked very hard to get to the truth of 9/11. But they met a ton of resistance. And what they ended up with is what happens in Washington. Accommodation and compromise. ANNA Building Seven? FRANK The one most people have forgotten, or dont even know about. Not hit by an airplane, yet it collapsed just like the others, in virtual free fall, into its own footprint. ANNA What does that mean? Footprint? FRANK It means it was brought down by explosives, not by fire or debris from the Towers. ANNA Oh come on, Frank. How could something like that be kept secret? After all this time? What did the 9/11 Commission say about it? FRANK Nothing. Building Seven wasnt even mentioned in their report. One of the reasons so few people are aware of it. ANNA They must not have considered it very important then. FRANK Well I can tell you that several hundred scientists and engineers, like myself, do. ANNA Engineers like yourself?

FRANK You know thats my specialty. I can recruit engineers because I am one. Structural engineer in fact. I knew when I saw the Towers fall on TV Building Seven in particular that something was wrong. I just couldnt believe what my eyes were telling me. I was like you, Anna. How could terrorists, in the middle of Manhattan, accomplish what it would take a team of demolition experts weeks to do successfully? VIDEO The controlled demolition, an implosion, of a high rise collapsing on itself. INT. NIGHT AUDITORIUM PULL BACK or CUT to reveal that the video is being projected on one of two large screens suspended over the stage. The auditoriums 500 or so seats are nearly filled. DR. LAWRENCE A. RAYMOND, a conservatively dressed man in his late 40s, stands at the lectern. MAN (calling from audience) Youre not going to tell us that was Building Seven are you? DR. RAYMOND No. That was controlled demolition of the Landmark Tower in Fort Worth. Building Seven is on the right. VIDEO SCREENS The demo of the Landmark Tower is repeated, this time

simultaneously with the collapse of World Trade Center Building Seven on the other screen. The actions look virtually identical. INT. AUDITORIUM As the screens go blank. DR. RAYMOND To accept the governments version of the events on 9/11, a conspiracy theory itself, I remind you at best were asked to believe in several scientific miracles. First, that Building Seven is the only steel-frame high-rise in the known world to have been brought down by fire. SHOUT FROM AUDIENCE And debris from the North Tower! DR. RAYMOND No, that was FEMAs hypothesis, in 2002. The National Institute of Standards and Technology, whose report in 2008 superseded FEMAs, stated that the damage from falling debris and I quote from their press release had no effect on the collapseinitiating event. According to NIST, this was an unprecedented fire-induced collapse. Thats even harder to accept when you consider that, compared to fires in other steel-framed high-rises which did not collapse, Building Sevens were unimpressive lasting no more than a few hours, possibly only three, on just six of its 47 floors.
