Forward
I made Jesus Christ of Nazareth the Lord and savior of my life in the summer of 1998. I was a young technologist in a local hospital in Washington D.C working the night and taking class; about to embark on graduate school. I met a man who was a security supervisor at the hospital. He spent hours taking about the word of God to me. He witnessed to me. I learned about the word of God through him. He was always talking about the word. To my natural ear, it was a way to let the night go by quickly. Unknown to me, he was sowing the seed of the word of God into my spirit. It was not long before I became a devour of the word of God till this day. In this book I will discuss some lessons I learned through my own experience with him that I believe are infallible steps to witnessing to anybody whether great or small. In Section 1, we will discuss the foundation for witnessing. There should be a clear understanding that the Bible is the word of God. We will trace our way from creation of man to his fall and the promise of a messiah. We will spend a lot time discussing the coming of the messiah, the anointed Jesus Christ and his redemption of man and that He lives forever more; to become the Lord of the living and the dead (Romans 14:10) In Section 2, we will define the word believe as in believers. We will discuss what it it means to truly believe. There will be a discussion on the distinction between religion and having a relationship with God and His son Jesus. There will be topics on the power of your words and how your word can hinder or enhance your prayers. In Section 3, we will deal with doctrinal issues that has become a stumbling block in witnessing the word of God to people. How the traditions of men has made the word of God of no effect. There will be a prayer of salvation and what it means to be saved. We will conclude by asking that you let the Holy Spirit give you faith and lead you into all truth. We will show you how to use your reborn again spirit instead of your head knowledge and prove God to yourself. If you meet God for yourself, in your life, you will not need any convincing to know Him.

Foundation for Witnessing

Psalms 11:3 (KJV) If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

Chapter 1 A Clear Understanding that the Bible is the Word of God

The first and foremost principle in witnessing to both small and great is to demonstrate or prove that the Bible is the word of God. Success or failure in witnessing will be based on this simple statement. If this truth is in dispute, there is no need in going any further. You cannot and will not make any serious witness until any doubt concerning this truth is cleared. Now, let me say that there has been converts that was a result of supernatural intervention but let me say that, without a reliance on the absolute fact that the Bible is the word of God, such converts will inevitable fall away and be right back where they started or even worse. Christ in the book of Luke 11:24-26 says it like this
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

Now I wanted to in this beginning chapter to limit using scriptures until we have established the foundation of the statement above but in this instance, it has to be just to shed light on the fact that in most instances where the are divine interventions in witnessing, it is dangerous if this foundation is not established after the intervention. I know your question is how do I prove that the Bible is the word of God. First of all, let us define the parameters of our conversation. By God, I mean the Judeo-Christian God. I mean the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I mean the God of the Old Covenant that adopted the Jews as His firstborn and promised to send a messiah to reconcile the world to himself. This is the God

that I am talking about and if your will is to know him and understand Him and His ways, there is only one way to do and it is through His word. This word, he has given to mankind through centuries of written scriptures that He instructed them to write down. There is no other way to know Him except to first know His Word. Everything else you will know and understand about Him will have to be measured against this word. This word is written down in a book called the Bible.
