PURPOSE

This specification establishes conditions as required for procurement of carbon and low alloy steel wire for PETROBRAS oil well wireline operations.

In order to apply this specification it is also required to refer to: PETROBRAS NI-2400 API SPEC 11B - Wire for oil well wireline dimensions - Standardization; - Wire rope. operations -

3 3.1

GENERAL CONDITIONS Dimensions

Wire dimensions shall comply with PETROBRS NI-2400. 3.2 Designation

Wire for PETROBRAS oil well wireline operations shall be designated by, at least, the name and number of this specification and its revision, diameter and length. For example: WIRE FOR OIL WELL WIRELINE OPERATION; SPEC PETROBRAS NI-2399; ND 2.34 mm (0.092 in); LENGTH 7620 m (25,000 ft).

2 NI-2399 ---------------------------------------------------------------3.3 Packaging, marking and conditioning

3.3.1 Wire shall be supplied on a wooden reel resistant to weather, transportation, storage and be standardized according to PETROBRAS NI-2400, evenly wound and without slack, and packaged in waterproof adhesive paper. 3.3.2 Wire shall be identified through a metallic nameplate attached to the reel and displaying, at least, the following informations: a) b) c) d) e) f) g) h) 3.4 Purchase Order No.; batch number; specification; nominal diameter; length; weight; manufacturer; reel number identification.

Surface protection

Wire shall be surface protected according to the manufacturers specification in order to avoid rust during storage for the warranty period. 4 4.1 SPECIFIC CONDITIONS Material

Wire fabrication shall be in accordance with API Spec 9A. It shall present smooth surface free of splices, grooves or any depressions.

Wire which meets the following conditions shall be accepted: a) as described in item 4.2; b) packaging and identification according to 3.3; c) surface protection according to 3.4; 6.2 Dimensional

Wire whose dimensions are not in accordance with PETROBRAS NI-2400 shall be rejected. 6.3 Tensile and torsion testing

Wire which not meet the requirements as shown in Table 1 shall be rejected. ------------
