The work of the church was started in I960 by Art Carter who continued it until 1964 when he'was forced to return
to the U.S. because of health reasons. The Bob Smith family moved from Belem to continue the work there. Because of

Bible study, .he came to the conclusion that the Adventists legalism was wrong and his desire was to follow the New
Testament. This desire led him to Bob Smith and now he has been responsible for leading a number of other families
