With reference to amendments in red at sheet 08 of 23 for shore supply please be advised as follows: . 1.

An earth terminal is to be provided for connecting the hull to an external earth. . 2. The shore connection is to be also provided with a frequency meter. . 3. An information plate is to be provided at or near the connection box giving full information on the system of supply, the nominal voltage and the nominal frequency of the ships system along with the recommended procedure for carrying out the connection. . 4. Provision is to be made for securing the trailing cable to the framework to absorb stress on the electrical terminals by catenary tension of the cable (shore connection).

SEE ABS GENOA OFFICE LETTER REF. 253264/254678/263339 DATED 14 SEPTEMBER 2007 . With reference to amendments in red at sheet 02 and 07 of 23 please be advised that electrical cables are to have conductors, insulation, and moisture-resistant jackets in accordance with IEC Publication 60092-353. Conductors are to be of copper and stranded in all sizes. All electrical cables are to be at least of a flame-retardant type that complies with the requirements of IEC Publications 60332-3 category A. Evidence (by means of Certificates) is to be given to our attending Surveyor. . With reference to amendments in red at sheet 07, 08, 09, 10, 11 and 20 of 23 we noted that also circuit breakers NS630N and GV2-ME have been used on the main switchboard 380V AC bus bars and NS160 on the 24V DC section boards. In this regard please be advised that they are to be designed, constructed and tested in accordance with IEC Publication 60947-2 and they are to be rated and are to have sufficient breaking and making capacities in respect to their point of installation. Evidence (by means of Certificates) is to be given to our attending Surveyor. Please also note that fuses are to be designed, constructed and tested in accordance with IEC Publication 60269. . With reference to amendments in red at sheet 07 of 23 please be advised that overcurrent protection has not to exceed 15% above full-load rating of the generator. . With reference to amendments in red at sheet 13, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21 and 22 of 23 please be advised that there are some discrepancies between the cable size indicated therein and in the drawing No. B616.360066.105 Rev.00 Calculation cross-section cables. Your clarification is invited. . Since not indicated please be advised that bus bars are to be designed for the rated current of the generator and shore supply (400A) and are to be mounted, braced and located so as to withstand thermal effects and magnetic forces resulting from the maximum prospective short-circuit current. . Our attending Surveyor is to verify that running protection for motors having power rating exceeding 0.5 kW be provided and set between 100% and 125% of the motor rated current and be provided with protection against low voltage. . Means are to be provided for the disconnection of the full load from all live poles of supply of every motor rated at 0.5 kW or above and its controlgear. Please be also advised that in case circuit disconnecting devices are located out of sight of the motor they serve or at more than 15.25 m from it, they are to be lockable in the open position. The disconnecting devices are to be properly identified and provided with open-closed indication. Where circuit breakers are used as disconnecting devices they are to be suitable for isolation. Disconnect switches and circuit breakers are to be operated without opening the enclosures in which they are installed. . Accumulator batteries, other than engine starting batteries, are to be protected against overload and short circuits by devices placed as near as practicable to the batteries. Fuses may be used for the protection of batteries for emergency lighting instead of circuit breakers up to and including 320 A rating. The charging equipment, except rectifiers, for all batteries is to be provided with reverse current protection. . Electronic equipment, if any, is to be suitable for marine environment.
