CREEKSTONES MISSION
"Since grace changes everything, Creekstone Church exists to glorify God by helping people come alive to the wonder of the Gospel."

MEASURING THE MISSION: HOW CAN I KNOW THAT IM COMING ALIVE TO THE WONDER OF THE GOSPEL?
Personal Devotion. The more I embrace Gods devotion to me in Jesus through the cross, the more compelled I am to become a fully devoted follower, or disciple, of Jesus. I will nd myself spending time in devotional practices such as study, prayer, worship and meditation, not as a duty, but as a delight that ows from an overow of grace. This grace changes me. And others will notice the change, especially as I freely repent of my sins against others and offer them forgiveness full and free. Additionally, as I grow in grace, the fruit of the Spirit will become increasingly observable in my life. Practical Ministry. The more I embrace the ministry of Jesus for me in his life, death and resurrection, the more compelled I will be to use the gifts he has given me in practical ministry. I will nd myself joyfully sacricing time and energy to serve in a way that helps advance the impact of the gospel through the local church. In other words, as I am gripped by Gods grace, I will desire to be an agent of grace in the lives of others by using my spiritual gifts. Authentic Community. The more I embrace Gods grace to me and love for me in Jesus, the more compelled I will be to share my life with others in authentic community, not wearing a mask of religious moralism or worldly success, but being transparent and real about my true need for a Savior. Since I know that I am safe with Jesus, I will become safe for others. Enthusiastic Generosity. The more I embrace Gods generosity toward me in Jesus through the cross, the more compelled I am toward enthusiastic generosity for him, where giving is not a burden, but a joy. My giving to the mission of the kingdom grows in proportion to my embrace of the gospel and trust in Gods provision. Organic Outreach. As I come alive to the wonder of the gospel, I begin longing for others to enjoy and be set free by the life revolutionizing grace of God in Jesus. I do not share the good news because I have to, but because I cant help it. It is just too good to keep to myself. I nd myself looking for ways to either invite folks to hear the message, ways to share the message, and ways to support others who share the message. The propulsion of grace will begin to move me out of my comfort zone. For a summary of our theological orientation, check out our website. TODAYS KEY BIBLE PASSAGE: Matthew 5:1-3 1 Seeing the crowds, Jesus went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. 2And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: 3Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. (ESV) THE BIG IDEA: _________________________________________________.

MY NOTES:

QUESTIONS FOR REFLECTION & DISCUSSION:

1) In what ways do you pursue happiness? Why is lasting, true happiness so difcult to experience? 2) How do you handle life when true happiness eludes you? 3) Why are we so naturally resistant to charity? 4) What is signicant about the fact that grace ows downhill?
