Mind Reader
Mind Reader is a simple card game which is ideal for family get-togethers or parties.

It consists of 36 numbered cards, each one of which depicts a young person with an
expression on his or her face. For light relief, one of the characters is a chimpanzee.

Instructions.
Form two teams and provide each team with paper and something to write with.

Each team selects up to ten cards at random.

For each card, the team decides on a reason for the face on the card. Any reason will
do but the zanier the better. The reason is written on the sheet of paper using the card
number as a reference.

For example.

10. He forgot to pay the restaurant bill

26. It’s her wedding day and she is bored.

35. He is being chased by a killer frog

When all the reasons have been recorded, the game is ready to start.

Teams take turns at showing a card and provide a clue (eg a noun) from the
description. In the examples above, the clue would be bill, wedding, or frog.

The other team can have five attempts to guess the reason.

The winning team is the one that guesses the highest number of correct (or nearly
correct) reasons.

The rules above are just a rough guide and can be amended according to the ages of
the players and the situation.

Here is a list of some expressions suggested by the cards:

Teams take turns at describing or even miming an event and the other team has to
find the card with an expression that best fits the situation. ! !

For example: The first team might select card number 15 Confusion and describe a
situation which could lead to that expression:

‘You might pull this face if you couldn’t work out which bus to catch’

Or, having chosen card number 2 Anger, one member of team might mime the
emotion shown on the card.

The team proving a correct solution keeps the selected card and the winning team is
the one with the most cards.

In playing this game, a second pack of cards is not essential, but would be useful.

Younger players may enjoy just selecting cards at random and and mimicking the
expression on the cards for the other players to guess.
