What is the point of life? Jeez, getting right down to the big questions. Not to say there is one correct answer, but from what Ive discerned in my almost-22 years of living it, the point, in short, is connection. I believe that time is a more appropriate currency than money; we are all continuously spending a limited supply of time so we better make it count. It is my intent to spend mine connecting with as much of this world as I can. To meet as many people as I can and listen to their stories, to explore as many places and for myself discover history, to constantly redene what it is I know life to be, and live outside a comfort zone. What does that have to do with us? Advertising has the ability to reach mass amounts of audiences at one time, and the potential to leave a resonating connection with those audiences in almost every medium. A 30 second commercial, a billboard with just six words on it, one sentence in a magazine. Done correctly for the right brands, they all create valuable connections. You create valuable connections. And Id like to be a part of that. Ohhh, now we understand. But we should get some formalities out of the way. Where did you study? I will graduate in December 2013 from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida with a B.S. in Advertising and Public Relations and a 3.96 GPA. Okay. What about your experience and skills? How are you qualified? Of course. Well, naturally it took some time for me to realize advertising was the place I could make connections. But every stepping stone along the way did help me to realize that, and helped me become who I am today. It started at my rst job as a cashier at a small mom and pop Italian restaurant Primos Pizza and Pasta in Miramar, Florida. I was 14 years old, and worked there for almost three years (May 2006 - August 2009). About a year after I started, I was promoted to head cashier. Anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant knows what comes with the experience - ability to multi-task, working in a fast-paced environment, handling money, and so on and so forth. And those are great skills to have, but what I really learned here came from my boss and mentor Matthew Hayden. He taught me the importance of interactions with people, even if they were just strangers coming in for ve minutes to pick up a pizza. He taught me that people are strangers until you make the eort to become their friends. And so my customers were not just voices on the other end of the phone, or names on a ticket, or lonely faces walking through the door like clockwork every Friday at the same time to pick up the same meal for one. They were people who would come in to bring me cookies on Christmas because I had smiled at them and remembered their names and listened to their stories while they waited for their orders all year. And that made all the dierence to them. I resigned from that job and left my hometown for college when I was 17, and was completely paying my own way. For a while I relied on several scholarships and nancial aid, focusing on schoolwork and getting involved in organizations. One of these organizations was the International Student Volunteers. In my sophomore year (June 2011) I raised $5,000 to travel to Calperum, Australia with this organization and work in a volunteer team to clean up ood damage, research sustainable development, and help with other conservation eorts. It was

this trip that made me realize there was so much more to the world than what I knew in my bubble, and that I wanted to experience it for all of its beauty as well as its despair. I wanted to be a part of something bigger than myself. I returned home with $7 to my name and a wealth of experience. But soon I would have to pay the bills, and moving o campus meant I needed more than just scholarships to survive. I became a lifeguard at Sea Worlds Discovery Cove, and I didnt know it when I started, but this job would change my life. About three months after I started, through a series of events, I found myself in a rough place, feeling very alone and living out of my car. The people in my department, people who I barely knew, oered couches to sleep on, food to eat, and often times just a shoulder to lean on. It was a baing experience for me. I was basically a stranger, struggling to stand, and without hesitation this group of individuals rallied to support me until I was back on my feet again. Yes, at this job I learned CPR and First Aid, and several other skills I could write as bullet points on a piece of paper. But what I really took from it, and what changed me, was the value of working as a team. I worked at Discovery Cove for a year and a half (February 2012 - June 2013) and about a year into my experience, when a coworkers mother died of cancer a week after he started working, I was on the other side of the support system. And once again, I was amazed at how a group of individuals could put dierences aside and come together to support a stranger going through something hard in his life. Back on my feet nancially and feeling like I needed to be spending my time a little better, I left Discovery Cove in June 2013 to volunteer once again with the International Student Volunteers. This time to Masebe Nature Reserve in Limpopo, South Africa. A much dierent experience than my previous one to the westernized country of Australia, South Africa opened my eyes. I worked in conservation eorts once again, but during my time in the country, I had the opportunity to visit a couple of local schools and orphanages to teach children how to conserve their natural resources, and donate some food, water, and clothes. The cultural dierences taught me not only to appreciate what I have, but that I want to have less and do more. And thats why I am seeking a position in your company. I am done living in a vicious cycle, wasting time at jobs that I only have to pay for things I dont really need. I am ready to do more. I am ready to be more. And I believe I can do so at your company. There have been other jobs at times, some more relevant to the advertising eld, some not. And there have been quite a few times in my life Ive balanced two or three to support myself. But these are the experiences I believe have been the most important and most relevant. If youd like a complete job list and history, I can happily provide one. Is there anything else youd like to say? I know this resume is not like all the others; it is not a one page, bulleted list of facts and achievements. It is unconventional. If it wasnt, it wouldnt truly be representative of who I am.
