Overview In Spanish 3 students will continue to develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills as well as become more aware of and knowledgeable about Hispanic culture. They will learn additional vocabulary and more complicated grammar, including several new tenses and the subjunctive mood. Students are expected to use Spanish as much as possible during class. Students may register to take this class for college credit through LCCC after achieving an appropriate score on the placement test.

Required materials Textbook: Ven conmigo 3 2003, Holt Rinehart & Winston (approximately $60 to replace) Notebook and folder (for Spanish only!) Students may choose to use a binder instead. Pen or pencil: dark ink or lead only!!! STANDARD LOOSE LEAF PAPER Spanish/English dictionary (generally around $6)

Evaluation Your progress will be monitored through frequent assignments and quizzes. There will also be a test at the end of each chapter as well as occasional projects and speaking tasks. The semester grade will be calculated using weighted categories: tests will be 30%, daily work (assignments, quizzes, etc.) will be 55%, and the semester exam will count for 15% and will be cumulative.

Expectations: 1. Be respectful of yourself, others, and property. This includes (but is not limited to) using school-appropriate language, dressing appropriately, paying attention and participating in class, taking care of textbooks, using titles of respect when referring to or addressing adults, refraining from eating and drinking in class, and completing work independently unless instructed otherwise. 2. Be in or near your seat when the bell rings. 3. Bring all required materials everyday unless instructed otherwise. 4. Prepare outside of class for quizzes/tests and have homework completed on time. Assignments not turned in when the teacher collects them are considered late. Halfcredit will be given for assignments turned in up to one day late. After one day, no credit will be given. 5. Complete assignments neatly on standard loose leaf paper in dark ink or lead. Each assignment needs the following information in the upper right-hand corner: Name Date Class period Assignment name 6. If you miss class for any reason, it is your responsibility to find out what you missed. (See the school handbook for policy.)

Consequences for not meeting expectations: Teacher may use any of the following consequences, depending on the severity or frequency of the offense: 1. Verbal warning. 2. Removal from class (to hallway, office, ISS room, etc.). 3. Detention. 4. Parental contact. 5. Referral.
