QUESTIONS & ANSWERS Who

usually goes to the site to inspects on the progress of the projects? The inspection of the site is usually done by the project manager. Every project we had, we will assign someone to do the inspection from free planning to post delivery. So post delivery means we hand over and then there is a period of time to ensure the project is done progressively. When you do a project, it is done progressively so when one section will be joining bit by bit by the project manager and of course the customer. If the particular phase has been completed, we will submit the thing and get the money. So, there will be a lot of inspection going on.

How

long does it normally take to finish one project? And please tell me about some of the projects that your company has done. It usually varies, the longest could last for 3 years but the average is only 6 months to finish one project. A few of the projects my company has done are, One Utama, Pavillion, IOI mall, Midvalley, 2 MRT station which cost RM6 million , and his biggest project was in Putrajaya, the PM's office which cost RM80 million and the list goes on.

Is

it true that computers are starting to play a crucial role in engineering worldwide? Yes, computers now plays a big role in our company. And it is a must as we use it to do quotation of the buildings and drawings. It also gives us instant decision. It is now a daily routine now to have a computer around you to check you mails to check whether if any architects are looking for me.

About Mr Phillip Yong

Mr Yong has been in this Mechanical & Electrical industry since 1996 which is already 16 years. Mr Yong is a very funny and friendly man based on my opinion because when he first walked into the room, he's like 'I just fired my barber because he cut my hair so short now I look like a China man*rubs head*'. Other then that he is a very experienced guy which knows about a lot of M & E exhibition or international companies. Besides that, one of the biggest project their company has completed so far was Putrajaya which cost RM80 million. Mr Yong also gave us advices which is ''Strict, Smart' , always listen to elders, don't think people look down on you because you asked a silly question', keep asking silly questions so you'll learn'

Mr Yong also told us about his exploration and experience throughout his working life. He told us about companies from a Hong Kong based global trading group, Li & Fung. Besides
4

that he also told us about the latest innovation which is called the 'Waffle Plant' in Kulim, Kedah. It is used to provide energy-efficient vehicles(EEV) in Malaysia.

Greatest Achievements

Mr Yong's favourite quote;

Eh you got boyfriend or not? Do you know what does MCC stands for? It means 'Mong Cha Cha la'(blur), ok la, it stands for 'Money Come Come' 'a bit bit big, a bit bit small'

Earning 40% profit from his projects Made his website so popular in Google and explained that it is link to the portal which is logged in by 30 or so staffs every day. Mr Yong is proud of that. Make his customers happy with the great job he did Happy that he have a lot of friends who would give his projects, like from architects or friends Successfully completed various projects Provide complete customer satisfaction Provides the best service in Malaysia

GO GREEN
Mr Yong told us about GBI . It is one of Malaysia's industry recognized green rating tool for buildings to promote suitability in the built environment and to raise awareness among architects, engineers, designers and contractors about environmental issues. Besides that ,Mr Yong also told us about the building of solar panels in Malaysia and not China or Australia. Germany chose to build the solar planes in Malaysia, and not Australia or China is because Malaysians IT level is better compares to China and Australia.

The latest trend now is to "Go Green" Mr Yong told us that he had attended one of the exhibition and they teach you how to create a building by saving a lot of energy. So i would say, nowadays people are going more green like the lights. When I was in Guangzhou for an exhibition and I can see that there are a lot of LED lights. People are going from conventional lights to LED lights nowadays. Energy consumptions is only half, compared to normal. So when they do a project, they try to save as much money as possible because

'money cough out is a lot'.
