11. Do I need to be fit to play?

Z DAY is a physical outdoor activity. You will need to have an average level of fitness and mobility to enjoy the game. You are not required to run but that could be a good idea if the zombie horde is chasing you. Z DAY will be played over different environments, some with uneven surfaces. If you could do a vigorous 30 min bushwalk then you are fit enough to play Z DAY.

12. Can I play as an individual or do you have to form a team?

There are 2 types of Z DAY tickets; Individual tickets and team tickets. Individuals will play Z DAY and receive an individual score at the end of their session. Players that purchase team tickets will receive a team score at the end of their session. Teams for all player classes are made up of 4 players per team.

13. How many people will play in each Z DAY session?

We have 100 player slots per session. These are a mixture of team and individual places amd they are broken up between the 3 player classes; Zombie, Survivor and Spec Ops.

14. Will there be prizes?

Yes, at the end of the Z DAY season we want to give significant prizes to the top team and top individual in each player class. A season will be a minimum of three weekends and be open ended. The longer Z DAY runs the bigger the prizes. We will create a leader board to track individual and team scores so players can see their score ranking as the season progresses. We will also have a completion and prizes for the best dressed individual and teams. We will take photographs of players outfits and we will have a peoples choice voting syste m to decide on the winners.

15. Can I dress up or cosplay as my player class character?

Absolutely, in fact we encourage you to come dressed to the best of your ability as the player class character that you have chosen.

16. What equipment will I get on the day?

That depends on what player class you choose. Zombies will receive an infrared harness that will record hits from other players and facilitate their hand held device that they will use to kill humans. Survivors and Spec Ops will receive an infrared harness with hit sensors attached and an infrared weapon. They will also wear an armband that acts like a scalp. If they are killed by a zombie the zombie takes this scalp to claim their points. Spec Ops will receive more ammunition than Survivors to begin with and have the option of wearing a Black PASGT helmet.

17. What will the weapons be like?

Z DAY uses Infrared technology custom fitted to toy guns to deliver an ability to score your play and participate in this live action gaming event. The toy guns will be mostly assault rifles and sub machine guns with a limited number of sniper rifles also available. The toy guns that we will be using are not replica firearms or imitation firearms and have been produced and identified as childrens toys an d therefore do not require a permit.

18. What kind of Zombies are Z DAY Zombies?

Z DAY Zombies are 'fast movers' like the zombies you would see in '28 days later' or 'World War Z'. They stand still or shuffle around until they detect their prey 'you'. Then they will move very quickly and aggressively towards their target until they get close enough to make a kill!

19. How will Zombies kill me?

Unlike some other games in this genre our zombies are not choreographed actors that take a hit without you firing at them or fall to the ground a few metres from where you're standing. Z DAY zombies will be very challenging to eliminate because they have the ability to kill you. Each zombie will be equipped with a hand held infrared device that emits an I.R pulse that has a range of 1 metre. The human players have sensors on their bodies and if the zombie gets within close range they will damage your health unless you eliminate the zombie with your weapon or get out of range by running away.

20. Will there only be player zombies?

No, we will have NPCs Non Player Characters that will be professional zombies. They will assist the player zombies in hunting the humans down and guarding key objectives.

21. If I play as a Zombie what will my objective be?

The objective of all player classes in Z DAY is to earn maximum points in their session. For zombies points are achieved by killing human players. Once you get to within 1 metre of a human player you can take their health by using your handheld Infrared device. If you can get into killing range of humans you will be able to eliminate them and take their armband scalp as proof of your kill. Register your kills at the end of session to receive your score. Zombie players will also be able to gain upgrades in game by reaching a certain number of kills. Once you have achieved an upgrade score we will alter your hand held device to become a one shot one kill weapon that will make you a very deadly zombie and give you a better chance of getting the highest score.

22. If I play as a Survivor what will my objective be?

Firstly to survive! Just about everyone you meet at Z DAY has the potential to kill you. Obviously zombies will come after you but you will need to be weary of human players as well. Survivors like the other two player classes are competing to earn maximum points. As a Survivor you gain points from scavenging survival items such as food, water and equipment as well as ammo for your weapon. You may also be able to obtain upgrades for you weapon if you meet certain conditions.

23. If I play as Spec Ops what will my objective be?

Spec Ops are elite soldiers and as such are the best equipped on the Z DAY landscape. Although they start with better weapons and more ammunition than Survivors there are less of them and they will need to work together in order to survive and complete their mission. Each squad of Spec Ops are given a specific mission to achieve and this is where they will earn the big points. Spec Ops also have the overall objective of 'cleansing' the Quarantine Zone of all threats to the Safe Havens.

24. What happens when a human player dies?

Each human player will have I.R Sensors on their body. When these sensors light up it means you have been hit and your health has now gone. You are dead! The dead player now moves to a respawn zone and after a short time period you will be reactivated by our staff and allowed to play on until the session is over.

25. What happens when a Zombie dies?

Each Zombie will wear I.R Sensors on their body. When a hit is registered against these sensors and all you health is gone they will light up and the Zombie now knows they are dead. The dead zombie proceeds to a respawn zone and is immediately reactivated by staff to begin play again.

26. If a human player gets 'infected' will they turn into a zombie?
No, each player class will stay in that role for the duration of their session. The reason for this is that each player is given an I.R weapon system that is linked to that individual or team. This enables Z DAY to give you your score at the end of the session. If we swapped weapons then you would lose your score and just like in a video game we feel most players want to know how they competed at the end of the session.

27. What can I take with me onto the Z DAY Property?

Pretty much only the clothes you came in and the equipment we give you will be allowed onto the Z DAY Property. We suggest you leave any valuables locked in your car at your own risk as there will not be any facilities available on the Z DAY property to store these or other personal items.
