Oxfam GB is inviting applicants for the following post:Job Title : IT Assistant Location: Addis Ababa, with frequent travel to the field Duration : Open Ended OXFAM PURPOSE: To work with others to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering JOB PURPOSE: This post will be the first line of support and report to the Senior IT Officer and matrix management Finance and systems manager. The post holder will provide support through, email, chat room, phone and on sites visits. This post will not be accountable for any service provided and change of policies. DIMENSIONS: To provide technical excellence for the Country. Coordinate technical resources within defined boundaries, or specialist area, including people and assets. Manage agreed solutions to operational/technical problems that may often be complex. Monitor IS service performance to ensure the business has cost-effective, dependable systems that satisfy business needs. On the job training/guidance of junior staff.Coordinating the flow of work within the (office/project office/ emergency office etc) in relation to other support or programme functions. e.g. logistics , administration.Following agreed IS strategies and policies.Undertaking work as defined by departmental objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Act as the contact person within the offices on all IT related issues. Communicating with internal and external contacts to support the functional business needs. Assist in administration and monitoring of server systems in Addis and field offices. Implement and monitor system availability and ensure backup system is available in all offices. Assist in monitoring personal computers running Oxfam software and is available for users as required. Assist in creation of AD accounts, logging calls on service now and attend all calls raised by users. Ensure the office machines are functional and assist in regular preventive maintenance activities.

Job Requirements

Effective data management in the server ensure data is backed up and restoration tested regularly to ensure business continuity. Support programmes in implementing and maintaining applications that assist them in their day to day work while ensuring that all software and hardware installed in the offices conform to OGB IS policies e.g. Payroll, banking, cataloguing, FACTS, PeoplSoft. Ensure that the virus protection software is installed on all machines & updated regularly and all virus incidents are promptly dealt with. Organise and conduct formal Induction, build user capacity on good IS practices and offer specific application training as required in liaison with external trainers. Provide first level support to hardware/software maintenance & upgrades in the office. Take charge of HF radio installations, troubleshooting etc in offices within the office in collaboration with Logistics. Perform other related duties as required.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCE:


BSC in computer engineering ,Computer science or related field of studies 3years or more experience on networked environment preferably NGO Professional training on computers, with knowledge on Local Area Networks, servers (basic hardware and software)Technically competent in area of specialisation and/or experience in IT workflows.

High level of competence in development and implementation of computerised systems. Good written and verbal communication skills in English. Use of initiative in problem solving. Learns/follows Oxfam policies and (technical) procedures to do the job. Suggests new ways to improve the work process. Contributes to team building. Solves problems with appropriate upward referral. User-oriented approach in the performance of duties
