Overview of the N68E-22 Cabinet
The N68E-22 cabinet features a modular design. It provides sufficient space for installing devices such as subracks and power distribution box so as to facilitate capacity expansion and maintenance.
Appearance of the N68E-22 Cabinet

The color of the N68E-22 cabinet surface is purple and gray. The N68E-22 cabinet can be categorized into two types: the single-door cabinet and the double-door cabinet. Figure 2-1 shows the single-door N68E-22 cabinet. Figure 2-2 shows the double-door N68E-22 cabinet.

About This Chapter

Before installing the N68E-22 cabinet, you need to unpack the cases and check the items in the cases. Ensure that all the tools required for the installation are available. 3.1 Unpacking the Cases and Checking the Items This describes how to unpack the cases and check the items in the cases for the convenience of subsequent cabinet installation. 3.2 Tools Required for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet The tools required for installing the N68E-22 cabinet are the measuring tools, marking tools, drilling tools, fastening tools, small tools, auxiliary tools, meters, and some special tools.

3.1 Unpacking the Cases and Checking the Items

This describes how to unpack the cases and check the items in the cases for the convenience of subsequent cabinet installation.
Prerequisite

Site preparation for the installation is complete. The cases that contain the cabinets and components are delivered to the site.
Context
l
When carrying or placing the equipment, you should ensure that it does not collide with doors, walls, shelves, or other objects. When transporting or installing the equipment, components, or parts, you should avoid touching their uncoated metal surfaces with sweaty or dirty gloves.
Procedure
Step 1 Unload the cases.
CAUTION
When unloading the cases, you should place the cases in sequence. Ensure that the labels on the cases face the same direction. Step 2 Check whether the number of cases on site is the same as is mentioned in the Packing List and whether the place of delivery is the same as the actual installation place. If... The number of cases on site matches that in the Packing List, The number of cases on site does not match that in the Packing List, Then... Go to Step 4. Go to Step 3.
Step 3 Stop unpacking the cases. Ask the project supervisor to send the Cargo Problems Report that is signed by the customer to the local Huawei office within three days. Step 4 Check whether the cases are intact. If... Any case is seriously damaged or soaked, The cases are intact, Then... Go to Step 5. Go to Step 6.

Step 5 Stop unpacking the cases, find out the causes, and contact the local Huawei office to further handle the problem.
CAUTION
To protect the equipment and find out the causes, perform the following actions: Move the unpacked equipment indoors for proper storage, take photos of the storage environment, the rusted or corroded equipment, packing cases, and packing materials. Keep these photos for future verification. Store the packing cases and materials properly. Step 6 Unpack the wooden cases.
CAUTION

Before the unpacking, move the wooden cases into or close to the equipment room if enough space is available. This prevents damage to the cabinets during the transportation. When you unpack the wooden cases, find the one containing the packing list first. Then, you can find items rapidly according to the names, codes, positions, and quantities in the Packing List. The following description takes the wooden case that contains the cabinet as an example. The methods of unpacking other types of wooden cases are similar. Place the wooden case on the ground. Ensure that the side with the wooden frame faces the bottom. Use a wrench, a flat-head screwdriver, or a claw hammer to straighten the tongues on the four sides of the cover, as shown in Figure 3-1.

Remove the cover. If the wooden case contains a carton, take out the carton and then open it according to Step 7. If the wooden case contains a cabinet, go to the next step. See Figure 3-2.

Use the same method to remove the side boards from the wooden case, as shown in Figure 3-3.

Erect the cabinet with the BOTTOM side down.
CAUTION
This operation needs three to five installers. Prevent the cabinet from falling during the erection to avoid personnel injury. 6. 7. 8. Remove the bottom of the case, that is, the side with the wooden frame. Remove the foamed wrap angles. Remove the vacuum plastic bag.
Step 7 Unpack the carton, as shown in Figure 3-4.

Check the types and quantities of the items in the carton according to the carton label. Use diagonal pliers to cut the straps. Rip the tape along the joint seams by using the paper knife. Do not insert the knife too deep, or else the items may be damaged. Unpack the carton and take out the items.
Step 8 Unpack boards.
CAUTION
l
Electronic components are extremely sensitive to static electricity. When unpacking the boards, wear an ESD wrist strap or a pair of ESD gloves properly. The ESD bag contains the desiccant to keep the bag dry. When taking the board from a cold dry place to a hot damp place, wait at least 30 minutes before the unpacking. Otherwise, moisture condensed on the board surface may damage the board. Check that no evident damage is on the board packages. Open the packages and ensure that the boards are in good condition. For any board problem, contact the order management engineer at the local Huawei office.

Step 9 Check whether the unpacked boards need to be installed immediately, and then proceed accordingly. If... Then...
The unpacked boards need to be installed Place the boards on an ESD surface and immediately, discharge the static electricity. The unpacked boards need not be installed Pack the boards with the original materials and immediately, place them in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight or strong electromagnetic radiation.

Step 10 Check the items. Check the items one by one according to the names, types, and quantities described in the Packing List. The acceptance of items covers the following aspects:

Appearance: Check whether there is any visible defect, looseness, distortion, or damage; check whether the labels are legible and whether the nameplates and decorating plates are available and meet the requirements. Integrity: Ensure that all the parts and accessories required for the installation of cabinets are available. Computer: Check whether the monitor, keyboard, and mouse are intact and in good condition. Board: Ensure that the type and quantity of the boards are consistent with those in the Packing List. Ensure that no printed circuit board is broken and no component is detached from the board.

The project supervisor should take the major role in the inspection of equipment and components whose electric characteristics are likely to have been affected.

5.2 Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet

The template files for installing the N68E-22 cabinet consist of the equipment room floor plan and the marking template. The equipment room floor plan is used to determine the installation position of the N68E-22 cabinet in the equipment room. The marking template is used to determine the drilling positions. The installation of the N68E-22 cabinet on the concrete floor and that of the N68E-22 cabinet on the ESD floor use the same equipment room floor plan but different marking templates.

The Equipment Room Floor Plan is provided by the customer or the site survey personnel. Figure 5-1 shows an example of the Equipment Room Floor Plan.

The distance between two rows of cabinets should be at least 1,000 mm. The distance between the wall and the cabinet side that is the closest to the wall should be at least 800 mm. The distance between the wall and the row that is the closest to the wall should be at least 800 mm (for double-door cabinets) and 1,000 mm (for single-door cabinets). The width of the aisles in the equipment room should be at least 1,000 mm.
Marking Template
The marking template is delivered with the cabinet. The marking template for installing the N68E-22 cabinet on the concrete floor is different from the marking template for installing the N68E-22 cabinet on the ESD floor. See Figure 5-2 and Figure 5-3.

Line drawing and hole drilling are the primary tasks for cabinet installation as imprecise drawing or drilling may hamper the installation. Therefore, it is important to ensure their quality. Before marking cabinet positions and drilling holes, check the installation position of the equipment, such as cable racks, in the equipment room for easy cabling. The Equipment Room Floor Plan is provided by the customer or the site survey personnel.
Procedure
Step 1 Ensure that the Equipment Room Floor Plan is in accordance with the requirements for installing the N68E-22 cabinet by referring to 5.2 Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet. Step 2 Use a tape measure to determine the cabinet positions based on the dimensions specified in the Equipment Room Floor Plan. Step 3 Determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies on the concrete floor based on the installation position of the cabinet. You can use the marking template or tape measure to determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies on the concrete floor. The marking template is made of paper and is prone to deformation. Before using the marking template, check whether it is deformed based on the dimensions of marking template specified in 5.2 Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet. If... Then...

Step 4 Use the marking plate to determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies. 1. As shown in Figure 5-4 or Figure 5-5, use measuring and marking instruments to measure and mark the start points for the front of a row of cabinets. From each start point, mark the benchmark lines in the cabinet arrangement direction. Place the marking template on the floor. Ensure that the semicircle notch of the template indicates the front of the cabinet and the edges of the template align with the benchmark lines. Mark the positions of the holes (four holes for each cabinet) for expansion bolts on the floor by using the template. After all the hole positions are marked, ensure that the distance between the holes is accurate. Go to Step 6.

Step 5 If the marking template cannot be used on site, use the tape measure to determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies. 1. Taking the hole as the benchmark point, mark the installation holes for other expansion bolt assemblies in succession. After all the hole positions are marked, ensure that the distance between the holes is accurate.

CAUTION

The concrete floor should not be penetrated. Therefore, you should confirm the thickness of the concrete floor before drilling holes. For some types of concrete floors on which the drilling is not suitable, you should consult the architectural engineers and get their permission before drilling holes. Before drilling holes, you should take dustproof measures on the electronic equipment in the equipment room. You should use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust during the drilling. Before removing the dustproof cover from the electronic equipment, you should clean up the pieces of concrete that have accumulated during the drilling. You must wear safety goggles during the drilling to protect your eyes from the dust. While drilling holes, you must hold the drill stock firmly. You must keep the drill bit vertical to the floor to protect the floor from being damaged or the holes from being slanted. Dig a pit by using a chisel to help hold the drill bit to the floor, as shown in Figure 5-6. Figure 5-6 Digging a pit

Use a percussion drill to drill holes at the marked places on the concrete floor. The depth of each hole must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. All the holes must have the same depth. Select a 16 drill bit in appropriate length. See Figure 5-7. Figure 5-7 Drilling a hole

Ensure that the depth of each hole ranges from 52 mm to 60 mm and that the holes are not slanting. If the depth of the hole is not appropriate or if the hole is slanting, re-drill the hole. If the slanting hole cannot be corrected, stop using the hole. Remove the dust inside and outside the holes by using a vacuum cleaner.

Measure the distance between the holes. If the distance does not meet the specifications, reposition and drill new holes. Insert the guiding rib on the nut into the guiding slot on the expansion tube, and then screw the bolt slightly to ensure that the guiding rib does not move out from the guiding slot. See Figure 5-9 . Insert the expansion tube and the nut into the hole vertically, and then use a rubber hammer to strike the expansion tube until it is completely buried in the hole, as shown in Figure 5-9 . Pre-tighten the expansion bolt clockwise so that the nut and the expansion tube do not get loose easily. See Figure 5-10 . 5.4 Securing the N68E-22 Cabinet on the Concrete Floor

This describes how to secure the N68E-22 cabinet on the concrete floor.

The components required for the installation are available. The required component is the N68E-22 cabinet. The materials required for the installation are available. The required materials are the insulating pads, flat washers 12, spring washers 12, adjusting pads (optional), and M12x60 expansion bolt assemblies. The tools required for the installation are available. The required tools are the forklift, level bar, torque wrench, socket wrench, and Phillips screwdriver.
Context
CAUTION
The gravity center of the cabinet is high. Therefore, do not lift or push the cabinet alone. Moving a cabinet requires at least two persons and a forklift, so as to ensure personnel safety and equipment safety.

Procedure
Step 1 Remove the wooden protection boards from the front and back of the cabinet. Step 2 Remove the four wooden protection boards from both the left and right parts of the rack. Pull down the hook pin at the upper part of both the front and back doors of the cabinet, and then remove both doors. Store the doors for future use. See Figure 5-11. When storing the doors, you should ensure that they are unlocked. Therefore, the lock rod at the lower part of each door does not protrude, thus preventing the lock rod from deformation. See Figure 5-12.

Step 5 Place the cabinet in the specified position. Align the installation holes in the cabinet with the holes on the floor. Step 6 Add the spring washer, flat washer, and insulating tube to each of the four expansion bolts. Then, insert each expansion bolt into the expansion tube and pretighten the expansion tube and the nut. See Figure 5-15. Step 7 Below the cabinet, push two insulating spacers from both the front and back sides. Ensure that the notch faces the inner side and is wedged in the expansion bolt. Align the installation holes of each insulating spacer with the corresponding expansion bolt holes. See Figure 5-15.

Step 8 Level the cabinet. Use a level bar to check the levelness of the cabinet. If the cabinet is not level, use a socket wrench to adjust the anchor bolt (adjustable range: 0-10 mm) of the cabinet and ensure that the cabinet is level. See Figure 5-16. Figure 5-16 Leveling the cabinet

Procedure
Step 1 Set the multimeter to the megohm scale. Step 2 Measure the resistance between the M12x60 expansion bolt and the cabinet. If... Then...

This describes how to combine the N68E-22 cabinets. When combining an N68E-22 cabinet with another cabinet, you should use connecting plates to secure them. The combining of N68E-22 cabinets can be classified into the following: combining of two N68E-22 cabinets and combining of N68E-22 and N68-22 cabinets.
Prerequisite
The tools required for the installation are available. The required tools are the wrench and climbing ladder.
Context
If two N68E-22 cabinets are to be combined, the connecting plates are already installed on top of the cabinets and are delivered with the cabinets. If N68E-22 and N68-22 cabinets are to be combined, special connecting pieces for combining cabinets are required. Figure 5-19 shows the special connecting pieces for combining cabinets.

6.2 Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet

The template files for installing the N68E-22 cabinet consist of the equipment room floor plan and the marking template. The equipment room floor plan is used to determine the installation position of the N68E-22 cabinet in the equipment room. The marking template is used to determine the drilling positions. The installation of the N68E-22 cabinet on the concrete floor and that of the N68E-22 cabinet on the ESD floor use the same equipment room floor plan but different marking templates.
Equipment Room Floor Plan

The Equipment Room Floor Plan is provided by the customer or the site survey personnel. Figure 6-1 shows an example of the Equipment Room Floor Plan.

The distance between two rows of cabinets should be at least 1,000 mm. The distance between the wall and the cabinet side that is the closest to the wall should be at least 800 mm. The distance between the wall and the row that is the closest to the wall should be at least 800 mm (for double-door cabinets) and 1,000 mm (for single-door cabinets). The width of the aisles in the equipment room should be at least 1,000 mm.
Marking Template
The marking template is delivered with the cabinet. The marking template for installing the N68E-22 cabinet on the concrete floor is different from the marking template for installing the N68E-22 cabinet on the ESD floor. See Figure 6-2 and Figure 6-3.

6.3 N6X Series Support Assembly

The N6X series support assembly consists of N6X series support, guide rail, and front pallet. To support and secure the cabinet, you need to use bolts to fix the guide rail, support, and cabinet together and use the front pallet to support the ESD floor before and after the cabinet.
N6X Series Support

The support is used to raise the cabinets so that the installation personnel can easily lay the floor and route the cables in the equipment room. Figure 6-4 shows the N6X series support.

The length of the N6X series support can be adjusted by adjusting the length of the expansion lever. There are two types of N6X series support: height-adjustable and height-fixed. 6.4 Positioning the N68E-22 Cabinet on the ESD Floor

Positioning the N68E-22 cabinet on the ESD floor involves the following steps: determining cabinet positions, marking the positions, drilling holes, and installing expansion bolt assemblies.

Procedure
Step 1 Ensure that the Equipment Room Floor Plan is in accordance with the requirements for installing the N68E-22 cabinet by referring to 6.2 Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet. Step 2 Use a tape measure to determine the cabinet positions based on the dimensions specified in the Equipment Room Floor Plan. Step 3 Use the panel lifter to remove the ESD floor in the installation area. Step 4 Remove the supporting pieces of the ESD floor. Step 5 Clean the installation area. Step 6 Choose a method of determining the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies on the concrete floor. You can use the marking template or tape measure to determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies on the concrete floor. The marking template is made of paper and is prone to deformation. Before using the marking template, check whether it is deformed based on the dimensions of marking template specified in 6.2 Template Files for Installing the N68E-22 Cabinet. If... Then...

Step 7 Use the marking plate to determine the positions of the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies. 1. As shown in Figure 6-7 or Figure 6-8, use measuring and marking instruments to measure and mark the start points for the front of a row of cabinets. From each start point, mark the benchmark lines in the cabinet arrangement direction. Place the marking template on the floor. Ensure that the semicircle notch of the template indicates the front of the cabinet and the edges of the template align with the benchmark lines. Mark the positions of the holes (four holes for each cabinet) for expansion bolts on the floor by using the template. After all the hole positions are marked, ensure that the distance between the holes is accurate. Go to Step 9. As shown in Figure 6-7 or Figure 6-8, use measuring and marking instruments to measure and mark two straight lines with 704 mm wide spacing, and ensure that the lines are parallel with the front of the cabinet.

As shown in Figure 6-7 or Figure 6-8, determine the position of hole for the first expansion bolt assembly on each of the straight lines. Taking the hole as the benchmark point, mark the installation holes for other expansion bolt assemblies in succession. After all the hole positions are marked, ensure that the distance between the holes is accurate.

CAUTION

The concrete floor should not be penetrated. Therefore, you should confirm the thickness of the concrete floor before drilling holes. For some types of concrete floors on which the drilling is not suitable, you should consult the architectural engineers and get their permission before drilling holes. Before drilling holes, you should take dustproof measures on the electronic equipment in the equipment room. You should use a vacuum cleaner to remove the dust during the drilling. Before removing the dustproof cover from the electronic equipment, you should clean up the pieces of concrete that have accumulated during the drilling. You must wear safety goggles during the drilling to protect your eyes from the dust. While drilling holes, you must hold the drill stock firmly. You must keep the drill bit vertical to the floor to protect the floor from being damaged or the holes from being slanted. Dig a pit by using a chisel to help hold the drill bit to the floor, as shown in Figure 6-9. Figure 6-9 Digging a pit

Use a percussion drill to drill holes at the marked places on the concrete floor. The depth of each hole must range from 52 mm to 60 mm. All the holes must have the same depth. Select a 16 drill bit. See Figure 6-10. Figure 6-10 Drilling a hole

Ensure that the depth of each hole ranges from 52 mm to 60 mm and that the holes are not slanting. If the depth of the hole is not appropriate or if the hole is slanting, re-drill the hole. If the slanting hole cannot be corrected, stop using the hole. Remove the dust inside and outside the holes by using a vacuum cleaner.

Remove the dust inside and outside the holes by using the vacuum cleaner. Measure the distance between the holes. If the position of a hole is not correct, re-position and drill a new hole. Insert the guiding rib on the nut into the guiding slot on the expansion tube, and then screw the bolt slightly to ensure that the guiding rib does not move out from the guiding slot. See Figure 6-12 . Insert the expansion tube and the nut into the hole vertically, and then use a rubber hammer to strike the expansion tube until it is completely buried in the hole, as shown in Figure 6-12 . Pre-tighten the expansion bolt clockwise so that the nut and the expansion tube do not get loose easily. See Figure 6-13 . 6.5 Installing the N6X Series Support and the Guide Rails
This describes how to install the N6X series support and the guide rails.
Prerequisite

The components required for the installation are available. The required components are guide rails, M12x35 assembling bolt, and M12x60 assembling bolt. The materials required for the installation are available. The required materials are flat washer 12, spring washer 12, and large flat washer. The tools required for the installation are available. The required tools are torque wrench and ruler.
Procedure
Step 1 Adjust the depth of the support. Move the two half supports so that the tail end of each half support is flush with the 800 silkscreen on the expansion lever. Then, fasten the six M8x20 screw assemblies on the expansion lever. See Figure 6-14.

Step 2 Adjust the height of the support. 1. 2. Loosen the height locking bolts. Figure 6-14 shows the positions of the height locking bolts. Adjust the height of the support until it is equal to the measured height of the ESD floor.

The height of the ESD floor shall be in accordance with the site survey report. The value read on the height scale of each support must be the same as the measured height of the ESD floor. Otherwise, the heights of the cabinets in the same row may be different after capacity expansion.

Tighten the height locking bolts to 45 Nm by using a torque wrench. Note that the two bolts in the middle should be tightened before the four bolts on the two sides.
Step 3 Install the guide rails. See Figure 6-15.

Place the guide rail on the support and align the installation holes for the guide rail with those for the support. Assemble the support and the guide rail by using the M12x35 assembling bolts, spring washers, and flat washers. Adjust the position of the support so that the diagonals of the four-sided shape formed by the two guide rails have nearly the same length, with a deviation of not more than 2 mm. Use a wrench to tighten the assembling bolts diagonally.
Step 4 Level and secure the support. 1. 2. Align the installation holes for the support with those for the expansion bolt assemblies in the ground, and then place the support assembled with the guide rail on the floor. Install the spring washers and flat washers on the M12x60 bolts. Through the installation holes for the support, vertically insert the bolts into the holes for the expansion bolt assemblies. See Figure 6-16.

Place the level bar on the support to check whether the support is level. If it is not level, add adjusting pads under the support. Tighten the four bolts to 45 Nm one diagonal pair after another.
Step 5 Connect the supports if the N68E-22 cabinets are to be combined. To ensure that you can combine cabinets smoothly, use the insulating spacers to help locate adjacent two supports. Figure 6-17 shows an insulating spacer. Figure 6-17 Insulating spacer

Place the insulating spacer on the guide rails of the adjacent two supports. Align the halfcircle gaps of the insulating spacer with the installation holes for the two guide rails, and then insert the M12x35 assembling bolts into the holes. See Figure 6-18. Use the insulating spacers to connect all the supports.

Use the level bar to check the levelness of the supports. If the supports are not level, use the adjusting pads to level them. See Figure 6-18. Use the wrench to tighten the height locking bolts to secure the supports. Remove the M12x35 assembling bolts and the insulating spacers. Keep them for future use.

6.6 Securing the N68E-22 Cabinet on the ESD Floor

Upon delivery, the N68E-22 cabinet is equipped with the front and back doors. Therefore, you should remove the doors first and then secure the cabinet on the N6X series support.

The required materials are insulating spacer, flat washer 12, and spring washer 12. The tools required for the installation are available. The required tools are level bar, torque wrench, socket wrench, and Phillips screwdriver.
Context
CAUTION
The gravity center of the cabinet is high. Therefore, do not lift or push the cabinet alone. Moving a cabinet requires at least two persons and a forklift, so as to ensure personnel safety and equipment safety.

Procedure
Step 1 Remove the wooden protection boards from the front and back of the cabinet. Step 2 Remove the four wooden protection boards from both the left and right parts of the rack. Pull down the hook pin at the upper part of both the front and back doors of the cabinet, and then remove both doors. Store the doors for future use. See Figure 6-19. When storing the doors, you should ensure that they are unlocked. Therefore, the lock rod at the lower part of each door does not protrude, thus preventing the lock rod from deformation. See Figure 6-20.

Step 5 Determine the position of the cabinet front. Then, lift the cabinet onto the guide rail. Align the installation holes at the bottom of the cabinet with the four holes on the guide rail. Step 6 Add the spring washer, flat washer, and insulating tube to each of the four expansion bolts. Then, insert each expansion bolt into the expansion tube and pretighten the expansion tube and the nut. See Figure 6-23. Step 7 Below the cabinet, push two insulating spacers from both the front and back sides. Ensure that the notch faces the inner side and is wedged in the expansion bolt. Align the installation holes of each insulating spacer with the corresponding expansion bolt holes. See Figure 6-23.

6.7 Testing the Insulation of the N68E-22 Cabinet

This describes how to test the insulation of the N68E-22 cabinet and how to insulate it from the ground.

6.8 Combining the N68E-22 Cabinets

This describes how to combine the N68E-22 cabinets. When combining an N68E-22 cabinet with another cabinet, you should use connecting plates to secure them. The combining of N68E-22 cabinets can be classified into the following: combining of two N68E-22 cabinets and combining of N68E-22 and N68-22 cabinets.
Prerequisite
The tools required for the installation are available. The required tools are the wrench and climbing ladder.
Context
If two N68E-22 cabinets are to be combined, the connecting plates are already installed on top of the cabinets and are delivered with the cabinets. If N68E-22 and N68-22 cabinets are to be combined, special connecting pieces for combining cabinets are required. Figure 6-27 shows the special connecting pieces for combining cabinets.

7.1 Power Cables and PGND Cables to Be Installed

This lists the power cables and PGND cables to be installed on site. 7.1.1 Power Cables The power cables are mandatory and are of two categories, that is, external power cables and internal power cables. The power cables refer to the -48 V power cables and the RTN power cables. 7.1.2 PGND Cables The PGND cables consist of external PGND cables, inter-cabinet PGND cables, PGND cables for the power distribution box, PGND cable for the subrack, and PGND cable for the cabinet door. The PGND cable is mandatory.
7.1.1 Power Cables

The power cables are mandatory and are of two categories, that is, external power cables and internal power cables. The power cables refer to the -48 V power cables and the RTN power cables. The external power cables connect the Power Distribution Frame (PDF) to the power distribution box at the top of the cabinet. The external power cables need to be installed on site. The internal power cables connect the power distribution box to the modules inside the cabinet. The internal power cables are installed before the cabinet is delivered. 7.1.2 PGND Cables

The PGND cables consist of external PGND cables, inter-cabinet PGND cables, PGND cables for the power distribution box, PGND cable for the subrack, and PGND cable for the cabinet door. The PGND cable is mandatory. The external PGND cable is mandatory for the cabinet. Each cabinet must be configured with one external PGND cable. When the cabinets are combined, three inter-cabinet PGND cables must be installed between every two adjacent cabinets. Other PGND cables are already installed in the cabinet before delivery. Table 7-3 describes the PGND cables.

7.2 Connections of the Power Cables and PGND Cables

The following power cables and PGND cables should be installed on site: power cables and PGND cables between the power distribution box and the PDF, and the PGND cables between the cabinets. Figure 7-3 shows the connections of the power cables and PGND cables. Figure 7-3 Connections of the power cables and PGND cables
NOTE
Each cabinet must be configured with nine cables, that is, four -48 V power cables, four RTN power cables, and one PGND cable. Here, the four -48 V power cables and four RTN power cables are connected to the rear panel of the power distribution box; the PGND cable is connected to the grounding bolt (labeled ) at the rear top of the cabinet.
The rear panel of the power distribution box is connected to the PDF through the external power cables and is connected to the subracks through the internal power cables. For details of the power distribution, see Distribution of Power Switches on the Power Distribution Box. It is recommended that the PGND cable of the cabinet be connected to the closest grounding bar. When the PDF is far from the cabinet, for example, the PDF is not in the same equipment room as the cabinet, you should connect the PGND cable for the cabinet to the closest grounding bar co-grounded with the PDF rather than connect the PGND cable directly to the PDF.
CAUTION
Ensure that the 1 (-) and 1 (+) input terminals in areas A and B of the power distribution box are connected to the 63 A output terminal of the PDF. Ensure that the 3 (-) and 3 (+) input terminals in areas A and B are connected to the 100 A output terminal of the PDF. You must avoid misconnections, which may affect the power requirements.

7.3 Principles of Routing and Binding the Power Cables and PGND Cables
When installing the power cables and PGND cables, you should follow the routing and binding principles.
Routing Principles
l
Before routing the power cables and PGND cables, you should wrap the connectors with insulating tapes to prevent the connectors from contacting the wiring terminals of the PDF. The layout of power cables and PGND cables should facilitate future expansion. The power cables and PGND cables should be routed separately from the signal cables. When power cables (or PGND cables) are laid parallel to signal cables, you should leave at least 10 mm between the power cables (or PGND cables) and the signal cables inside the cabinet and at least 100 mm outside the cabinet. When bending the power cables and PGND cables, you should ensure that the bending radius is five times longer than the diameter of the cable. When adopting the underfloor cabling mode, you should reserve extra length of the power cables at the cable inlet of the power distribution box on top of the cabinet. The purpose is to help plug in and pull out the cables. In addition, the cables must be laid neatly at the top of the cabinet. When connecting power cables to the wiring terminals of the power distribution box, you should route them in a straight manner and ensure that the cables are curved smoothly at the bent, without crossings.

Binding Principles

The power cables and PGND cables are bound separately from the signal cables. The space between the cable ties should be 200 mm. The types (100 mm, 150 mm, 300 mm, and 295 mm) of cable ties should be determined on the basis of the number of cables. The cable ties should face the same direction. After binding the cables tightly, you should cut off the surplus parts completely for indoor cable ties and leave 3 mm to 5 mm for outdoor cable ties. The tails of the cable ties should be trimmed.

7.4 Installing the Power Cables and PGND Cables Between the N68E-22 Cabinet and the PDF
There are two modes of installing the power cables and PGND cables between the N68E-22 cabinet and the PDF: overhead cabling and underfloor cabling. Select one of them as required. 7.4.1 Overhead and Underfloor Cabling Modes According to the conditions of the equipment room, the cables can be led into the cabinet in either overhead cabling mode or underfloor cabling mode.
7.4.2 Installing the Power Cables and PGND Cables Between the N68E-22 Cabinet and the PDF in Overhead Cabling Mode This describes how to install the power cables and PGND cables between the N68E-22 cabinet and the PDF in overhead cabling mode. 7.4.3 Installing the Power Cables and PGND Cables Between the N68E-22 Cabinet and the PDF in Underfloor Cabling Mode This describes how to install the power cables and PGND cables between the N68E-22 cabinet and the PDF in underfloor cabling mode.
7.4.1 Overhead and Underfloor Cabling Modes

According to the conditions of the equipment room, the cables can be led into the cabinet in either overhead cabling mode or underfloor cabling mode. External cables can be led into the cabinet through either the upper cable hole or the lower cable hole. Each corner at the top and bottom of the cabinet provides a rectangular cable hole, as shown in Figure 7-4. Figure 7-4 Cable holes of the cabinet
If the cable hole is covered with a rodent-proof cover, you need to remove the cover before the cabling. Then, lead the cables through the cable hole and bind the cables. Place the rodent-proof
cover on the cable hole, and mark the area to be cut based on the cross section of the bound cables. Then, use scissors to cut the area. At last, reinstall the rodent-proof cover. Ensure that the bound cables fit in well with the cover, that is, the cables are fully engaged and no side clearance is left.
Overhead Cabling Mode

In overhead cabling mode, the cables are led out of the cabinet through the cable hole at the top of the cabinet or through other paths upward, as shown in Figure 7-5. The cables for the related devices in the cabinet are led out of the cabinet along the side of the cabinet. The overhead cabling mode is suitable for the equipment room with concrete floor. Underfloor Cabling Mode

In underfloor cabling mode, the cables are led out of the cabinet through the cable hole at the bottom of the cabinet or through other paths downward, as shown in Figure 7-6. The underfloor cabling mode is suitable for the equipment room with ESD floor. When the underfloor cabling mode is used, ensure that the height of the piled cables does not exceed 3/4 of the height of the space under the ESD floor.

The tools required for the installation are available. The required tools are the diagonal pliers, handsaw, cable cutter, wrench, and Phillips screwdriver.

This document takes the PDF shipped with the Huawei equipment as an example to describe how to install the cables. For details, see the documents shipped with the PDF. If other types of DC power distribution cabinets are used on site, see the relevant documents for the method of installing the cables. Procedure
Step 1 Determine the length of the required power cables and PGND cables by referring to the related engineering design or by measuring the actual cabling route. Step 2 Uncoil the power cable roll and the PGND cable roll on site. Obtain appropriate length of cables by using the tape measure or other measuring instrument. Then, cut the cables by using the handsaw (teeth space: 0.8 mm) or the wire cutter (KT35). When cutting the cables, you should leave a little slack.
CAUTION
When laying the cable, you should replace it with a new one if the reserved length is insufficient. Do not make connectors or solder joints. Step 3 Attach temporary labels to both ends of the cables and ensure that the contents of the labels are appropriate for the easy recognition of cables. The contents of the temporary labels can be consistent with those of the formal labels or can be determined according to your requirements. Step 4 Lay the power cables and PGND cable according to the requirements for routing cables and engineering requirements. 1. Lead the power cables and PGND cable out of the PDF through the upper cable outlet.

If the height difference between the cable rack and the top of the cabinet exceeds 800 mm, a downward cable ladder must be used. Ensure that the bending radius is five times longer than the diameter of the cable.

Lead the RTN and -48 V power cables through the upper cable hole into the cabinet until they reach the input terminals of the power distribution box. Connect the RTN cables to the wiring terminal labeled +, and the -48 V cables to the wiring terminal labeled -. Then, fasten the screws.
CAUTION
Input power is not allowed in the 2(+) and 2(-) input terminals. Connect the RTN and -48 V power cables respectively to input terminals 1(+), 1(-), and 3(+), 3(-). 5. Obtain plastic cover plates with appropriate area and cover the rectangular cable holes with the plastic cover plates. Then, fasten the screws.
Step 6 Connect the other end of the power cable to the PDF, and connect the other end of the PGND cable to the PDF or the closest protection grounding bar. 1. 2. Remove the insulating tapes from the connectors of the cables. Determine the length of the cables according to their installation positions, and then cut off the extra parts. Determine the type of connectors for the power cables and PGND cables on the PDF side according to the cable connection principle of the PDF and the engineering requirements. Then, make connectors. Connect the PGND cables, RTN power cables, and -48 V power cables to the corresponding wiring posts on the PDF. Fasten all the screws.

Use the cables ties to bind one group and the PGND cable, and then use the cable ties to bind the other group separately. Route the two bundles of cables to the middle columns on the left and right sides of the N68E-22 cabinet respectively. Route one end of the lifting rope to the top of the middle column. Route the other end of the lifting rope to the bottom of the cabinet through the middle column and bind the rope to the power cables and PGND cable in the lower part of the middle column. Pull the upper end of the lifting rope appropriately so that the power cables and PGND cable are routed to the top of the cabinet through the middle column. Remove the lifting rope and remove the cable ties from the power cables and PGND cable.

Procedure
Step 1 Position the three equipotential cables on the mounting bar at the back of the cabinet. Step 2 Connect the three equipotential cables between the combined cabinets, as shown in Figure 7-9.

7.6 Checking the Power-on Status

This describes how to check the power supply to the cabinet. It also describes how to ensure that the power supply to the subracks and the power supply to the fan boxes and boards in the subracks are normal.

Context
The cabinet uses the DC power supply. Technical Specifications of the Power Distribution Box lists the specifications for the input power of the cabinet.
CAUTION
Correctly wear the ESD wrist strap. Ensure that the ESD wrist strap is properly connected to the ESD connector on the cabinet.
Procedure
Step 1 Set the corresponding output switches on the PDF to OFF and all the output switches on the power distribution box of the cabinet to OFF. Step 2 Set the multimeter to the resistance scale and then measure the resistance at the power output terminal for the PDF and at the input and output terminals for the power distribution box of the cabinet. Ensure that there is no short-circuit between the -48V working power and the RTN working ground. Ensure that there is no short-circuit between the -48V working power and the PGND protection ground. Step 3 Set the corresponding output switches on the PDF to ON and all the output switches on the power distribution box of the cabinet to OFF. Then, the power distribution box enters the self-check state. (The RUN and ALM LEDs on the power distribution box are on at the same time and the buzzer sounds.) When the self-check is complete, the power distribution box requests for registration at the SCUa board (the RUN LED on the power distribution box blinks at 2 Hz) until the registration is successful (the RUN LED blinks at 0.5 Hz). For the description about the status of LEDs on the power distribution box, see LEDs on the Power Distribution Box. Step 4 Set the multimeter to the voltage scale. Ensure that the output voltage of the PDF and the input voltage of the power distribution box range from -40 V to -57 V. Step 5 On a per subrack basis, set the corresponding two switches on the power distribution box to ON. Step 6 Set the multimeter to the voltage scale. Use the multimeter to check whether the output voltage of the power distribution box ranges from -40 V to -57 V. Check whether the fan box in the subrack can be normally started and whether the power supply to the boards in the subrack is normal.

Normally, when the subrack is powered on, the STATUS LED on the panel of the fan box blinks. In case of exceptions, immediately turn off the switches of the power distribution box and PDF. Check whether the output voltage of the power distribution box is normal and whether the power cables are installed properly. For the description about the status of LEDs on the fan box, see LED on the Fan Box. Normally, when the subrack is powered on, the RUN LED on the panel of the board is ON or blinks. If all the LEDs on a board are off, the board or the corresponding slot may be faulty. Contact Huawei for technical support. Procedure
Step 1 Insert the pivot of the door into the hole in the lower enclosure of the cabinet, as shown in Figure 8-2 . Step 2 Pull down the hook pin, align it with the pivot hole in the upper enclosure of the cabinet, and then release the hook pin so as to fix the door onto the cabinet, as shown in Figure 8-2 . ----End

Each door and each side panel of the cabinet need to be installed with a PGND cable.

The components required for the installation are available. The required components are the PGND cables for the doors and side panels. The tools required for the installation are available. The required tools are the Phillips screwdriver and wrench.

Figure 8-3 shows how to install the PGND cables for the doors and side panels of the N68E-22 cabinet.

Procedure
Step 1 Connect the PGND cables for the side panels, as shown in Figure 8-3 .
NOTE
For a row of combined cabinets, only the side panels at the left and right ends of the cabinet row need to be installed with PGND cables.
Step 2 Connect the PGND cables for the front and back doors, as shown in Figure 8-3 . ----End

Attaching the Engineering Labels to the Cabinets

This describes how to attach the engineering labels to the cabinets, including the row labels, column labels, and product labels.
Figure 9-1 shows the row label. Figure 9-1 Row label

The product label is rectangular and is used to identify the product. Figure 9-3 shows the position for attaching the product label.

Procedure
Step 1 Attach the row labels to the cabinets. Attach the row labels to the side panels of the cabinets that stand near the aisle at the two ends of each cabinet row. If there is more than one row of cabinets, attach label A to the side panels at the two ends of the first cabinet row that is the closest to the door of the equipment room, label B to the second row, label C to the third row, and so on. Step 2 Attach the column labels to the cabinets. Attach the column labels to the doorhead of the cabinet front, with label 00 to the first cabinet near the main aisle, 01 to the second one, 02 to the third one, and so on. Step 3 Check whether the product labels are attached to the front and back doors of the cabinet. If no, obtain the product labels from the delivery accessories. Then, attach the product labels to the left front door and left back door of each cabinet. See Figure 9-3. ----End

After installing the power cables and PGND cables, you should remove the temporary labels from them and then attach the engineering labels to them.

The power cables and PGND cables are installed. The materials required for the attaching are available. The required materials are the ballpoint pen and labels.
Procedure
Step 1 Remove the temporary labels from the power cables and PGND cables. Step 2 Attach the engineering labels to the power cables and PGND cables by referring to Labeling Power Cables. ----End

Checklist for the Cabinet Installation
This describes the items and specifications for checking the cabinet installation. Table 11-1 lists the items and specifications for checking the cabinet installation. Table 11-1 Checklist for the cabinet installation Item The cabinet layout complies with the engineering design. The supports are positioned and spaced according to the schematic drawing of installation holes if the equipment room has an ESD floor. All supports are properly fixed to the floor if the equipment room has an ESD floor. The support assembly is properly installed if the equipment room has an ESD floor. All the front pallets for the ESD floor are installed at the same height if the equipment room has an ESD floor that needs to be supported by front pallets. The cabinet is well insulated from the support or ground. The cover plates are properly installed at the top and bottom of the cabinet. The accessories such as the side panel, front door, and back door are properly installed. The row labels, column labels, and product labels are properly attached. The ESD wrist strap is inserted into the ESD installation hole of the cabinet. The connecting plates of the combined cabinets are properly installed. Insulation is performed on the shockproof parts between multiple rows of cabinets. All the screws are fastened. The flat washers and spring washers are mounted. The spring washers are placed between the flat washers and the screws. The cabinets are stable and orderly. The adjacent cabinets are close to each other and are in alignment.

11 Checklist for the Cabinet Installation

Item The vertical deviation of the cabinet is less than 3 mm. All the cabinet side panels facing the aisle are properly aligned, with the maximum deviation of 5 mm. The surfaces of the cabinets are clean without any fingerprint or smudge. The paint on the surfaces of the cabinets is intact. There is no dust, excessive cable tie ends, or other sundries in the cabinets (even at dead corners). All the labels, tags, and nameplates are complete, legible, and correct. The front and back doors of the cabinet open and close easily. The modules in one cabinet are aligned from the top down. All the filler panels are installed. All the boards are installed in proper positions, and the DIP switches of the boards are properly set. The components the cabinets are not detached or damaged. The connecting wires or cables are not detached or damaged. The paint on the components of the cabinets is not detached or damaged.
