Dr. Carl Spain from Abilene Christian Col lege was the guest lecturer. He provided much spiritual food and inspiration. We really appreciated hearing some messages in English againl Ke lectured on two topics: I John and the New Testament concept of the evangelist. In addition he brought timely sermons each evening dealing with various topics. Another highlight of the meeting was the opportunity of meeting co-laborers from all
over Brazil. Some had traveled from far to
the north, Belem, while others journeyed from the far south ia S5o Paulo.Itwas encouraging to hear of the responses to the gospel invi tation in all parts of this vast country.

Another aspect of this yearly meeting of which you

division among our churches in the United States over
country. This annual meeting affords an opportunity to get to know these brethren better, to pray and
worship together, and to learn of their work in Brazil.
In addition to the many families who were present at Anapolis there were also several young people who two year program for young people that is patterned to some degree after the Peace Corp. Ssn Luiz is a small dusty town about two hundred miles north of Bra silia on the Belem-Brasilia highway.
Harry Douglass,

Dale McAfee when he made one of his regular visits in August. Although Dale lives in Ceres, he ministers to several small congregations throughout that area.
The congregation, though few in nxunber, gave us a warm greeting. They were proud of their new building and were glad that we could see it. It is about ten feet wide and twenty-five feet long. You can get some idea of the type of structure from the picture of Dale
preaching.
After about a two hour ride we arrived at dinner

our favorite variety of bananas. As each bunch opens, it releases a sweet-smelling fragrance that-perfumes the entire yard. Of course along with the sweet fra grance comes the bees to gather the nectar. There has been quite a bit of activity in Brazil
this month. One of the families of the Taguatinga
congregation suffered a great loss when their home and everything in it was destroyed by fire. The man has
been an elder in the congregation for some time.
Their home was one of four destroyed as a result of
an exploding tank of bottle gas. With five children ranging from a few months upward in age, you can see
their need is great.
The congregation has responded well. Today (Sept. 30) many of the women have gathered to sew clothes.
Uoed clothing, food, and money have been collected. The family is staying at the William Loft home until they can arrange for another home. The young people sponsored and conducted a revival meeting at the North End meeting place a week ago. The meeting was somewhat different than the typical revival to which you are^^c^imed"; The building is not large not much larger than two good-sized living rooms, I would guess. One ni^t the musical accompaniment consisted of two electric
Brazilians enjoy it that way. There were also six or seven special numbers each ni^t, usually solos. There were many young people in attendance. How ever, several adults were there and a rather gentlelooking dog which slept iinder my feet, seemingly en
joying the revival.
One night, after the invitation period was over and the meeting about to dismiss, a woman stood and stated
that there was a man there who wanted to become a
Christian but was too timid to go forward. With some persuading the man finally went to the front and made the good confession of faith in Christ Jesus.
However, another situation developed as a result of the meeting, which indicates all too vividly the pro blems involved in preaching the Grospel in Brazil.
A woman whom Julie end another girl had recently vis ited, was beaten by her husband because she wanted to become a Christian. She was so upset about it that she tried to commit suicide by taking an overdose of sleeping pills which, thankfully, was not successful.
This is not the first situation we have known of sim
ilar to this. Pray for this family that they migiht come to know the Lord as their personal Saviour.

Perhaps you would like to hear of my experience in securing my Brazilian driver's license, l^on arrival I was issued a temporary license which was renewed once. But finally the time came for me to get my
official license.
Without giving much thou^t to the ordeal in which I'd be embarking, I went to the transit department to ask to take the test. While waiting in line I happen ed to glance at a lengthy list of requirements, some of which I didn't understand and still don't, which were required before making application. After slowly easing out of the line I made a copy of the list and left trying to decide the best way to tackle this thing. Later in the day, while getting a haircut, I was still
pondering the situation and mentioned it to the bar ber. He quickly agreed it was no sin5)le matter and
recommended the services of his friend across the st
reet who is a profe^ional^t this sort~of thing. I accepted his suggestion and made arrangements with his friend to help me gather the necessary paperwork.
After several days of running to various offices,
departments and the doctor, I had a nice-size stack of documents, pictures, fingerprints and photocopies of previous documents. We presented these to the transit department and made an appointment to take the test.
Early the next day, at the stated time,I was there ready to take the simple test for which I'd prepared.
But I was rather startled to see a much more difficult
