B.Tech. DEGREE EXAMINATION

I SEMESTER GEOMETRICAL DRAWING
(Effective for Civil, Mech. & MMM from the admitted batch 200910) (Effective for IE from the admitted batch 201011)

Time: 3 Hours Max.Marks: 60 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Instructions: Each Unit carries 12 marks. Answer all units choosing one question from each unit. All parts of the unit must be answered in one place only. Figures in the right hand margin indicate marks allotted.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------UNIT-I 1. a) Two points A and B are in the H.P. The point A is 30 mm in front of the V.P. while B is behind the V.P. The distance between their projectors is 75 mm and the line joining their top views makes an angle of 450 with xy. Find the distance of the point B from the V.P b) A line PQ 80 mm long has its end P 60 mm above HP and 20 mm in front of VP while end Q is 15 mm above HP and in front of VP. The front view p'q' measures 60 mm. Draw the projections of the line
OR

2. A 75 mm long line has one end 20 mm above hp and 20 mm in front of VP. The top view length of the line is 55 mm while its front view length is 40 mm. Draw the projections of the line and locate HT and VT. What are the angles of inclination of the line with HP and VP? UNIT-II 3. A circular lamina of 50 mm diameter inclined at 300 to HP and perpendicular to VP. The center of the circle is 30 mm in front of VP and on HP. Draw front, top and side views of the plane

4. A regular hexagonal lamina of 30 mm side rests on one of its edges on HP. Its plane is inclined at 450 to HP and the edge on which it rests is inclined at 300 to VP. Draw its projections 12 UNIT-III 5. A triangular prism of base side 45 mm and length of axis 75 mm has a corner in the H.P. The face opposite to that corner makes 500 with the H.P. while the axis of the prism makes an angle 300 to the V.P. Draw the projections of the solid 12
OR

6. Draw the projections of a cone, base 45 mm diameter and axis 60 mm long, when it is resting on the ground on a point of its base circle with the axis making an angle 300 with the H.P. and 450 with the V.P. 12 UNIT-IV 7. A pentagonal pyramid of base edge 30 mm and height 60 mm is resting on its base with one base edge perpendicular to VP. A cutting plane inclined at 500 with HP perpendicular to VP and passing through a corner cuts the pyramid. Draw the sectional front view, top view. Also draw the true shape of the section

8. A funnel tapers from a circular opening of diameter 70 mm to a circular opening of diameter 20 mm over an axial length of 50 mm. It is extended axially a further 40 mm with a cylindrical portion. Develop the surface of the funnel UNIT-V

9. A cone of base diameter 60 mm and height 70 mm is resting on its base on HP. It is cut by a plane perpendicular to the VP and inclined at 300 to the HP. The plane meets the axis at a distance of 25 mm from the apex. Draw the isometric view of the truncated cone 12

OR

10. Draw the isometric view of a door steps block having three steps of 22 cm tread and 15 cm rise. The steps measure 75 cm widthwise 12
