We use pronouns as substitutes for noun phrases.
The pronouns and the noun phrases which they refer to mean the same thing.

(The little boys = they)
Pay attention:
1. The pronoun I is normally written with capital letter;
2. The pronoun you is used for both singular and plural forms;
3. The pronoun they refers to people, animals, objects or things.
