Founded more than 130 years ago as the Rheinische Hartgummi-WarenFabrik in Mannheim (Germany) our company did pioneering work in the processing of firstly celluloid and later synthetic materials. Our hallmark, the tortoise, has stood since 1894 for the high quality of combs, writing implements, table tennis balls and the famous Schildkrt-puppets and today is a symbol for the outstanding durability of our products and of our company.

Synthetic materials are our passion: For about 50 years now we have been concentrating on one of our strongholds, i. e. flat roofs. When considering our many years of development partnership with BASF, the cradle of synthetic roofing membranes is still in Mannheim, where we produce not only roofing membranes, but also light panels and acid protection membranes. Founded under the name of Schildkrt Kunststoffwerke AG, after 1971 under the roof of Braas and from 2000 as FlachdachTechnologie GmbH & Co. KG: FDT for short. With this new name the tortoise returned into the logo of our company.

On our way to the leading position among synthetic roofing membrane manufacturers in Europe we have come up with lots of successful innovative ideas and solutions. Whether a new building or reroofing, whether a church, an industrial plant, a stadium or an office building: With Rhepanol fk and our Rhenofol product range we have the perfect roofing membrane system whatever the requirement. With installation regardless of the weather, our products are well thought-out to the smallest detail and are highly reliable for decades in frost, heat and storm. By continually developing our comprehensive solutions we have been drawing up ever new standards for waterproofing flat roofs. We also apply this approach to our acid protection membranes, which keep aggressive substances away from substrates in sensitive industrial and research areas, and for our light panel programme.

In just the last 30 years Rhepanol fk, the oldest synthetic roofing membrane in the world, has been applied on over 70 million square metres. Thus designers, architects, investors and above all applicators intensively benefit from the innovative features of our premium product. The unique GripFix-System and the integrated sealing edge for a completely waterproof sealing of seams are just two examples which show the high economic effectiveness of using these roofing membranes. From the sixties Belgium, along with Luxemburg, represents one of our core markets. Until 1993 this market was managed by Contichim S.A., a company of the Conti group, on an exclusive basis. Because of the growing importance of this market, however, we opened our own subsidiary there in 1993, the Flachdach Technologie S.A./N.V. (formerly Braas Benelux).

Based in the city of Nivelles, our team of flat roof specialists offers customers comprehensive services including planning and consultation for and the monitoring of projects, as well as applicator training in our own training facilities.

In just five years, our flat roof experts managed to gain an excellent reputation in the developing Czech and Slovakian markets. As well as their competence in the sales field, the consulting and training know-how of our Czech team is highly appreciated by designers, applicators and investors alike. Professional FDT consultants regularly hold lectures at the Prague building university and participate in the publication of numerous scientific papers. As market leader, FDT (formerly Braas Systmy Ploch ych St rech) is represented through two offices and warehouses in Prague and in Brno, the biggest city in Moravia. Besides this our subsidiary on the Slovakian market co-ordinates the activities of our local representative, the construction trade company Bautrade.

Although in recent years big new building projects have dominated in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia, in the future the reroofing sector will become more important. Back to the roots has been the slogan in France since 2000, where 3T France has reintroduced the original company name of 1965 Toiture France. With its headquarters in Cergy Pontoise in Greater Paris, 3T France is the leading manufacturer in the fields of synthetic roofing membranes in France.
