IMPLEMENTATION PROCEDURE
Introduction
6. Using the response parameters of the current 4,)and optionally, segment s, evaluate KLM. the dynamic reaction corresponding to displacement v"'( 1 )
7. Determine the acceleration vrn(1) using the equation of motion: K,xmLxVm+R=P

Topside structures and equipment typically support operating loads before when they are subjected to accidental blast loads. Therefore, any blast response analysis method should be able to model also the effects of operating loads. The method developed in this Note may be applied to determine the dynamic response due to blast loads in the presence of operating loads as follows:
0

8. If it is the final required response time, exit. 9. Using explicit integration, determine the displacement and velocity at the end of the step from the values of displacement, velocity and acceleration at the beginning of the step:

The uniformly distributed load P(,) is considered to include blast and operating consists only of the latter. loads, where P(o) The displacement under the static load P(o)is used as an initial displacement in the time integration procedure.

Numerical Explicit Time Integration The following steps describe the application in dynamic analysis of the new SDOF model, using explicit time-step integration:
1. Evaluate model parameters Section 3.2.3 or 3.2.4.

10. If the new displacement v , ( , + ~ )exceeds the vzax of the current segment (s), set s = s + 1 and repeat this check until v ~+ A) ( no ~ longer exceeds v i a x.
11. If there is response unloading (i.e. vm(t+ A) < vrn(t)) and the current segment is not an unloading segment (i.e. s > S,): 11.1 Modify the previous segment (s- 1)
