The New Labor Law Books Are Available

The new Labor Law books are available! All statutes and regulations within the
jurisdiction of the Connecticut Department of Labor are included in one 880-page
volume. (See the next page for a description of the content of the book.) The statutes are
current through January 1, 2006.

By mail the books are $20.00 each, which includes mailing, shipping and handling and
the sales tax. Please allow up to 2-3 weeks for delivery. If paying by mail please make
checks payable to Connecticut Department of Labor.

The books may also be purchased in person at Department of Labor Lobby Shop, 200
Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, CT, for $15.00 each.

This book represents the first comprehensive publication of the statutes
and regulations within the jurisdiction of the Connecticut Department
of Labor in more than a decade. The book contains the laws which
relate to the world of work and the employment relationship and
includes the following statutes and regulations dealing with:

Wages. Laws regulating payment of wages, minimum and overtime wages


and wage rates for public works projects and certain state service contracts.

Worker protections. Laws regulating various aspects of the employment


relationship in areas such as employment of minors, access to personnel
files, drug testing and family and medical leave rights, as well as the
enforcement of contractual grievance rights through the State Board of
Mediation and Arbitration.

Public sector workplace. Laws governing public sector collective


bargaining administered by the State Board of Labor Relations, and health
and safety laws enforced by CONN-OSHA.

Employment and training programs. Laws governing Connecticut’s One-


Stop Career Center System and a range of job training programs, including
on-the-job training through Connecticut’s apprenticeship system.

Unemployment Insurance. Laws governing Connecticut’s Unemployment


Insurance (UI) program that regulate the payments of benefits, the criteria
for determining eligibility, employer taxes to subsidize the Unemployment
Trust Fund and the process for appealing decisions.
