It is always fascinating to know people who carve a niche for
themselves and Professor Chinmay Mehta is no exception. He
was a Professor and Dean, Faculty of FineArts,University of
Rajasthan,Jaipur (India ). But that is not all, he has other talents as
well. He is multi-media Painter and Designer of Large size Mural
(wall Paintings ) and Fantasy Resorts in ethnic and indigenous
style. Not only exceptionally well read, he himself is an experi-
enced author, writing prolifically on Art,Culture and Aesthetics.
Education :
Born in 1942 in a town near Udaipur, he obtained his post-gradu-
ation in Visual Arts (Painting) in 1963. He had his Doctors in

Philosophy in Fine Arts on his research project : Treatment of
Space in Miniature Paintings of Rajasthan : He has been teaching
Painting, Art History and Aesthetics at the graduation as well as
post-graduation levels. He has also been supervising research on
various subjects and twenty scholars have so far been awarded
Ph.D. under his supervision. He has also been associated with the
evaluation of Ph.D. and D.Litt. Dissertations of several Universi-
ties

As one of the very distinghuished Painter turned Environmantal
Designer,he has designed and executed large size Exhibition Pavil-
ions and famous theme resorts notably —Chokhi Dhani, Jaipur
Dhola ri Dhani in Hyderabad, and similar other projects, Rajkot,
Jodhpur. He is also designing a unique Village Haat/shilpagrams in
Dausa,Jhunjhnuand Sawai madhopur. With this, he will be known
as a rare Designer of Ethnic and Vernacular architecture in our
country. He uses his wide experience and artistic insight to bring
about a fresh perspective to any project he undertakes. While
pursuing varied interests, he values honesty and loyalty most.. RELIEF MURAL

For last forty years he has been holding solo and joint shows that
have been applauded by both media and the connoisseurs of art
throughout the world He was invited by the State University
of New York in 1977 for a successful lecture demonstration
and exhibition programme. His large size Murals are signifi-
cantly contributing to the charm and elegance of prominent
public places. He is a ceaseless experimenterof new tech-
niques of art and a conscious artist who works with a mis-
sion and purpose.
He has been honored with the National Academy award
at its 43 rd. National Exhibition of Art in Bangalore. He
participated in the National Senior Artists’ Camp organised
by the Central Lalit Kala Academy to observe the 70th birth
