Rebar detection Hilti are not just another tool manufacturer supplying basic detection instruments, In common with all our product ranges we have invested very heavily in Research and Development of our detection systems in order to push the limits of what is achievable in order to give the end user the best possible detection experience. In 1994 Hilti launched the innovative Ferroscan FS 10 which was the first portable reinforcement detection and measuring system on the market to provide an immediately visible image of the arrangement of the reinforcement in the concrete. Along with this we have been supplying advanced rebar detectors to the market since 2001. Since then we have continued to refine and develop the detection tools until we have arrived at the range of tools that you see here. Scanning detectors Our range can be divided into Scanning Detectors and scanning Recorders, the scanning detectors give an immediate feedback to the operator about what is detected during the scan. PS 30 Ferrodetector PS 35 Ferrodetector PS 38 Multi detector

Operating principle Electro-magnetic induction Applications - Locating reinforcement, copper or aluminum pipes in concrete - Locating copper or aluminum pipes in brick walls

Operating principle Electro-magnetic induction Applications -Locating reinforcement, copper or aluminum pipes in concrete - Locating copper or aluminum pipes in brick walls - Determining the position and depth of existing rebars for postinstalled rebar connections - Checking concrete cover over reinforcement for trouble-free anchor setting

Multiple Operating principles Pulse radar, Magnetic induction plus an AC detector Applications - Detecting metal, wood or plastic objects, electrical conduits at depths up to 120 mm - Locating objects under the surface of structures prior to drilling, coring, sawing or slitting allowing anchor holes or through penetrations for pipe and cable installations to be drilled without risk of hitting concealed objects - Locating underfloor heating pipes or other pipe and cable runs enabling the setting anchors safely in hollow or thermally activated slabs - Locating studs for efficient fastenings The specification of the PS 38 is shown below.

The specification of the PS 30 is shown below.

Scanning recorders Along with the exceptional scanning capability and the immediate display of the arrangement of the reinforcement available to the operator without any further processing, our scanning recorders also permit recording of the data obtained during the scan which can be further processed using our software for professional scan evaluation, reporting and data management. The scanning recorders used wheeled scanner heads to measure the location of the scanner head relative to the scan starting point. This allows the positions of any bars found in the scan to be documented relative to a known fixed point. These recorders have 4 modes of use:- Quickscan where the scanner is run over the surface of the concrete and indicates the position and approximate depth of any rebars that are parallel to the scanner. If an accurate determination of the depth of cover the diameter and nominal spacing of rebars can be input into the scanner to improve the accuracy of the determination of the depth of cover. - Quickscan recording similar to the Quickscan mode but the location of the bars along the length of the scan is recorded in the scanner files which can then be downloaded into the PC software for further analysis and documentation. - Imagescan where a 600 x 600mm grid is scanned in 2 perpendicular directions the position and direction of the scan following the directions given by the scanner. When the scans are transferred to the monitor, the positions of the bars are indicated, the diameter of the bars and the depth of cover can be determined. - Blockscan This is where up to a grid of 3 x 3 Imagescans are recorded together and the software combines the images together to provide the best possible interpretation of the rebar in the 1.8m square area.

PS 200 Ferroscan

PS 1000 X-Scan

Operating principle Electro-magnetic induction Applications - Determining the diameter and depth of cover and location of Rebar and recording the data for verification and analysis. - Checking concrete coverage over large areas for structural repair work. - Rebar location for the avoidance of cutting through critical reinforcement or costly rebar hits. - Building acceptance inspections.

Operating principle Pulsed radar Applications - Locating and recording the positions of rebars, tendons, metal and plastic conduits, glass-fiber cables, voids and wood in dry concrete structures at depths of up to 300 mm. Allowing planning to avoiding hitting concealed objects when drilling anchor holes or through holes, breaking out openings and in diamond coring and sawing work. - Quality assessment and checking rebar and tendon layout (e.g. curvature, density, depth). - Determination of the position of existing rebars to use for rebar extension (postinstalled rebar connections) in structural applications. - Inspection of floors, decks, slabs, balconies, etc. in structures such as tunnels, bridges and buildings. - Detection of voids and cavities. The specification of the PS 1000 X-Scan is shown below.

The specification of the PS200 is shown below.
