Keyboard 2.1 Key Functions Learning Outcome : 2.1.1 Know how to use the Print Screen, Num Lock and Esc keys Learning Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to: 1. Use Print Screen button to capture the active display. 2. Edit the captured display in Paint to get the wanted image/part of the display. 3. Paste and save the image in Word. 4. Know the position of the Esc and Num Lock keys. 5. State the function of Esc and Num Lock keys. Application of English Language skills: 1.4.1 Listen to and learn the vocabulary of instructions to do or make something and directions. 3.2.1 Recognise and read out whole words. 4.1.1 Write words, phrases and sentences in clear, legible print Activities : Step 1 : Pupils are asked to open Word Document in my documents Step 2 : Pupils are asked to write a short description. Step 3 : Pupils are asked to press Print Screen key. Step 4 : Pupils click Start on the taskbar. Point to All Programs Accessories Paint. Click Paint. Step 5 : From the standard toolbar click Edit Paste.

: Pupils are asked to select first paragraph by using Select Tool. : Pupils are asked to click and drag the mouse to the first paragraph and release the click button. : Pupils are asked to cut the paragraph by clicking the EditCut. : Pupils returns to Microsoft Word and click in the task bar. Then paste the selected paragraph in Microsoft Word by selecting Edit Paste from the menu bar. : Teacher asks pupils to click File from the menu bar and choose Save As. : Pupils click My Document and save in from the Save In pull down menu. Then pupils name Ant and The Dove in the File name box. : Click Save button. : Teacher shows the keyboard and the position of the Esc and Num Lock keys. : Teacher explains the function of Num Lock key. : Pupils are asked to open MS Word by clicking Start-> All Programs-> MS Office->MS Word. : Pupils are asked to press the Num Lock key and make sure the indicator light on the keyboard is on. : Pupils press keys 1 to 9. : Pupils click File in the menu bar and press Esc.

The Ant and the Dove An Ant went to the bank of a river to quench its thirst, and being carried away by the rush of the stream, was on the point of drowning. A Dove sitting on a tree overhanging the water plucked a leaf and let it fall into the stream close to her. The Ant climbed onto it and floated in safety to the bank. Shortly afterwards a birdcatcher came and stood under the tree, and laid his lime-twigs for the Dove, which sat in the branches. The Ant, perceiving his design, stung him in the foot. In pain the birdcatcher threw down the twigs, and the noise made the Dove take wing.
