Title: AHMED BRAHIM;
AOT-IT-SPAIN
Synopsis: To provide information related to caption subject.
Details: The newspaper Europa Press, in Palma de Mallorca,
Spain, published the following article on April 9, 2 003;jr,y$:«-••••••
••• - Attorney Miguel 111 Ferrer,--the-defense--lawyer for
AHMED BRAHIM, the alleged financial brain of Al Qaeda in
Spain, announced this morning that he will present an appeal
before the European Human Rights Court of Appeals in
Strasbourg, so his client can be released on parole.
Attorney 111 Ferrer announced that he would present
the appeal after the Constitutional Court dismissed the appeal
for legal protection that BRAHIM presented.
Since his arrest at his residence in Barcelona last
April, BRAHIM, 58 years old, has been waiting for trial for a
year in the Alcala de Meco Penitentiary.

His defense attorney explains that BRAHIM is being

connected to MANDHU SALIM, a Sudan citizen, a.k.a. ABU HAGER,
who allegedly was the financial brain of the Al Qaeda
terrorist group.

Apparently, AHMED BRAHIM, whom at the time lived in

Palma de Mallorca, invited ABU HAGER to his residence, and
that is why the intelligence services suspected his connection
to Al Qaeda.

However, 111 Ferrer wanted to state, "there is no

proof that my client is connected to the terrorist group."
