September 2013 Dear Friend, Greetings from everyone at the church on this beautiful day which the Lord has made. The Scripture says to be glad and rejoice in it. Autumn has always been one of my most favorite times of the year. My mind goes back to the beginning of our church in 1991. We rented a hall in Harwinton and held our baptisms at Harwinton Lake. One particular baptism was held during the fall. The day was warm and the trees had begun to change colors, leaving their reflection on the still water. The air was clear and the sky was a gorgeous blue: it was just a beautiful day! I had the privilege of baptizing my daughter in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. I know the Lord filled her with His presence, even at such a young age, because she has served Him faithfully ever since! She is a great help to us in the ministries of Sunday School, the Music Ministries, our card ministry, and the Convalescent Home ministry. I see Jesus in her and the Lord is using her to help others who need her kind and gentle ways. Autumn is also a time we would go to the cider mills and buy apples and enjoy the fruits of the farmer's labor. We live in such a blessed country, a land of bounty which all of us should be thankful for! Jesus always taught the people in ways they could relate to. For example, He said in John 4:38, "I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours." This verse was instrumental for me in my decision to go to Torrington to start the church. The labour that went before me were the many prayer meetings held in the Torrington-Winsted area long before I ever was asked to come here. We didn't strike out on our own! Prayer precedes every move of God. Without prayer nothing is accomplished because the Lord is the head of the church. Without Him sanctioning an assembly the labor there is in vain. This verse answered several questions I had. One of my first questions was if it was the Lord sending me or man or my own desire. In my time of prayer the Holy Spirit inspired this verse to me, Jesus saying, "I sent you..." My pastor at the

time had several wise proverbs he used to express God's nature and His will. He used to say, "The finger that points is the hand that provides." In other words, if God points us in a certain direction then His hand will provide all we have need for that ministry, or work, or church, or calling. He will never leave His people hanging! In those three little words, "I sent you," the Lord was telling me everything I needed would be taken care of: the finances, the birth and growth of the church, and everything my family would need to make this church possible. Every spiritual gift we would need would be in operation in due season. With thanks and praise in my heart to God, I can say that every need our church has encountered and every need my family has faced, the Lord has been there to supply them all! The Scripture shows itself true where the Bible says, "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure" (Philippians 2:13). We must learn to wait patiently for the Lord to fulfill His good pleasure in us, but if we can rest in Him, resist the temptation of trying to push God to give us what we want when we want it, and allow Him to work it all out, we will be victorious through Christ! Can we trust God no matter what we are facing? You bet we can! "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is" (Jeremiah 17:7). Everyone wants the secret to being happy or blessed, and I just quoted it to you. You are blessed and happy if you trust in the Lord, and if you make the Lord your hope! If your hope is only in this world you will be disappointed so many, many times. But if you trust and hope in the Lord you will be blessed! He will be your confidence and strength, and His mercies will sustain you. I believe if you make that your prayer right now that He will visit you with His peace that passes all understanding. I hope this newsletter inspired you to put your trust in the Lord Jesus. He really does care for you! Our church is praying for you, that you will experience the blessed hope the Lord Jesus offers you. May God bless you! Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel Bossidy
