Perez, BSA's national commissioner apologized to his staff, saying, "We are amazingly sorry with the fact that this got out and got ahead of us." In other words, Patriot, the BSA were simply going to drop this bombshell about a monumental policy shift on millions of scouts, scout leaders, parents and sponsoring churches. The Times added Perez was "frustrated that the discussion had been hijacked" by someone who "either didn't like what we were doing, or they thought they were being helpful." Grassfire applauds the efforts of the person or persons who leaked the information. It allowed the public to express their outrage over the proposed change -- a change many believe would destroy the Scouts!
