2) Chronology Nickname: Volume Two; Series Title: Batman Beyond; Publisher: DC Comics; Released: 1999-2001; # of Issues: 24 Issues, Issues #13-14 & #21-22 are collected in DC Comics Presents: Batman Beyond (Comic Vine). Details: Continued the work of Volume One. It coincided with the show. Both the Animated Series and the comics ended in 2001, and the comics were not restarted until 2010, with Batman Beyond Volume Three. Volume Two was the last Batman Beyond series with this style of art and younger target audience with later Volumes becoming darker and stemming away from the DC Animated Universe. (Batman Wikia) 3) Series Title: Batman Beyond- Return of the Joker; Publisher: DC Comics; Released: February 1st, 2001; # of Issues: 1. Details: Released after the direct to video film of the same title. It keeps all of the original content from the PG-13 version with one exception. The page with the Jokers death was redone to match the Not Rated version. During which Robin kills the Joker through electrocution. Instead of being shot by a broken and previously tortured Robin (the torture was watered down in the edited version), as shown in the PG-13 version. Ironically, they did not change this detail in any further part of the story; throughout the rest of the story references are made to the Joker being shot to death. Furthermore, some scenes never made it into either version of the movie; they were incorporated into the comic. (Wikipedia referencing the website, Batman Beyond Backstage) 4) Chronology Nickname: Volume Three; Series Title: Batman Beyond; Publisher: DC Comics; Released: 2010; # of Issues: 6 Issue Miniseries, collected into 1 volume, Batman Beyond: Hush Beyond.
Notes: This series takes place post the tv series, movie, and Volumes One & Two. It is followed up by Volume Four. The story was focused on what happened to Dick Grayson and villains from Bruces days. 5) Chronology Nickname: Volume Four; Series Title: Batman Beyond; Publisher: DC Comics; Released: 2011; # of Issues: 8 Issue Miniseries, collected into 1 volume, Batman Beyond: Industrial Revolution. Notes: Continued the story of Volume Three. There are two story arches. The first is Justice League Beyond focused, dealing with a powerful enemy. The second is Batman Beyond focused. It deals with the return of the Paxton duo (Blight and his son), gives us a background story to some key characters, and deals with the drama of Batmans personal life. This series further strengthens the Beyondverse's connection to the mainstream DC Universe. Although it is mentioned in the letter column that all events that happened in the animated series, the animated movie Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, and the first two volumes (1 and 2) still took place and has yet to be retconned. This means while all DC animated universe events should be canon to the Beyondverse; it is not always clear what mainstream DC universe events took place. (Batman Wikia) With the launch of the New 52, the series was cancelled, to be continued in the digital first Batman Beyond volume in 2012. Two chapters would be released each month, and later collected in print in the compilation series Batman Beyond Unlimited at the end of each month. (Comic Vine) Volume Five does continue the story of Volume Four. It is not a reboot.
