Position Summary Under the primary supervision of the Director of European Programs and secondary supervision of the Director of Africa and Middle Eastern Programs, the Program Officer for Belgium, Bulgaria, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Turkey, Morocco, and UAE administers student exchanges between U.S. ISEP member institutions and member institutions in the various countries; serves as principal liaison for member institutions in these countries; handles all applications to and from institutions in these countries. Principal Accountabilities 1. Service to coordinators responds to inquiries from coordinators at member institutions regarding programs and availability of space
informs coordinators when candidates cannot be placed within the anticipated time frame, clarifies what are realistic expectations and points out other options participates in coordinator training and workshop
serves as primary point of contact for coordinators from member institutions in their countries
2. Service to students reviews applications from and places students at member universities in the US and abroad
maintains student files throughout all stages of placement process documenting significant transactions follows up on outstanding confirmations, makes appropriate adjustments, and provides postplacement communication maintains support services during and following programs and responds to crisis situations
3. Member Relations/Program Development reviews Institutional Information Sheets from member institutions and follows up as needed.
reviews student evaluations of programs and initiates/implements appropriate follow-up activity participates in development of new programs at designated international member institutions
participates in marketing of designated international institutions provides input for and reviews ISEP publications, materials and website information conducts site visits participates in professional conferences
5. SEVIS
serves as an Alternate Responsible Officer for SEVIS completes necessary processes and provides necessary documentation for international student employment authorization and academic training verifies international student information prior to the creation of DS-2019 forms
Requirements Education: BA required; MA in relevant subject area preferred. Experience: 2-3 years relevant work experience Skills: Study abroad or work experience in one of the countries in the region for which the Program Officer would be responsible; understanding of the cultures and educational systems of one or more countries in the region. Knowledge of a foreign language is a plus; excellent communication skills, ability to handle detail; work as a team member as well as independently.
