Childrens Literature Sastera Kanak-Kanak LGA3101 3(3+0) 45 hours Nil One One/Two 1. Demonstrate an understanding of childrens literature (1.1) 2. Identify and evaluate the different literary genres suitable for the primary English classroom (2.4) 3. Examine and discuss intercultural differences and similarities in childrens literature (3.6) 4. Design different teaching activities based on the pedagogical principles of teaching young learners (2.3) 5. Demonstrate an awareness of the use of childrens literature as bibliotherapy (7.3)

Synopsis

This course focuses on the Introduction to childrens literature, pedagogical principles of teaching young learners, elements of childrens literature, selection criteria of texts for young learners, multicultural literature, exploring and exploiting stories, poetry and drama in the primary ESL classroom, childrens literature in the Malaysian primary ESL curriculum and bibliotherapy. Kursus ini memfokus kepada pengenalan terhadap sastera kanak-kanak, prinsip-prinsip pedagogi pengajaran kanak-kanak, elemen-elemen sastera kanak-kanak, kriteria pemilihan teks untuk kanak-kanak, sastera pelbagai budaya kanak-kanak, meneroka dan mengeksploitasi cerita, puisi dan drama dalam pengajaran Bahasa Inggeris sebagai bahasa kedua di sekolah rendah, sastera kanak-kanak dalam kurikulum bahasa Inggeris sebagai bahasa kedua di sekolah rendah di Malaysia dan biblioterapi.
