its a uniqueness argument prevents the team from getting offense sooner is better is really powerful, because it makes it impossible for them to get offense. They can't weigh their impact if it happens no matter what. It won't outweigh if it happens with or without the affirmative team This isnt required, but it is a very strong argument Can you kick out of an impact on an inevitability argument This is a very common mistake Conceding that something is inevitable does NOT get you out of an impact turn Basically, the other team has already conceded that their plan will happeni in the long run. Conceding htat it is inevitable pushes you further into the hole. You CAN conceded internal link defense. You can concede impact defense. When to impact turn-genreal impact turn is the grwat equalizer Creates an assymettry because they wont expect it and it gives you new stuff Gives you some new hotness that will catch them completely unaware brazillian water scarcity is hella important. When to impact turn on neg if they read a 2AC impact turn and they read a throwaway that you dont know what to say to, then you hsould imapct turn it in the block t just bend them over and destroy them you should make it a big part of the block by prefacing it in the 1NC When to impact turn if you are affirmative Impact turn in the 1NR for the same reasons as above. It is a tricky move and it requires cleanup by the 2AR, but it is often a very good strategy When you have no good link turns and its a net benefit to a counterplan. o You need to win both the uniqueness and the link turn to win a link turn if it's a net benfit to a counterplan you are going to need a lot of offense. Reasons not to impact turn requries lots of evidence makes the debate messy towards the end, and whoever cleans up best will win not the strategy for a disorganized debater. If you are fundamentally on the wrong side of an issue, then you should not impact turn. Tips and Tricks Find key points of contestation, just like in impact calc, emphasis is key. Dependning on when you are winning you should stress different parts. Tell the judge how and why to vote Make Lists, this is the cheating way to win debates. If you make lists you will win a shit ton more debates. It is hella better. Like, saying three reasons why something is better. Lists are just really good for some psychological reason Access their impact, make sure to show how you solve for their impact with your impact. You should also win that you have another impact, but you winning on their impacts makes things easier Have a combination of both terrible and specific impacts Dont go for too much, just find what you are winnign on/is the most important and then just hammer it home. If you make too many argumetns then they can impact turn your impact turns do NOT forget to defend, do not forget defense.
